Protect our watershed - learn and do

The Tualatin watershed is crucial to our community's well-being. Learn more about the conservation and restoration activities of the past and present that are ensuring the health of our watershed. Pick an action from the following options: 1) Switch to organic or slow-release fertilizers, 2) Replace a non-permeable surface with a permeable one, 3) Always pick up after pets (if you notice a location, park, or greenspace with a pet waste problem, find a way to improve the disposal infrastructure), 4) Plant tough/hardy plants that require little or no extra water/fertilizer, 5) Use roof water or greywater in the garden instead of having it run directly to the street or down the drain.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Electricity Generation Learn More About Geothermal Energy
Geothermal energy is reliable, abundant, and efficient. Project Drawdown states that public investment will play a crucial role in its expansion. In what ways (i.e. with money, time, advocacy) can you invest in geothermal energy?

Hmm.  Not entirely sure. I certainly will advocate for geothermal energy in personal encounters.

Makes me wonder what our homes are possibly sitting on top of beings that we live in a volcanic region.

Helps me a lot as I have often had questions about this and didn't think to turn to FISIS website.  We talked about this in MR class, but this helps.  I can now make informed choices before buying/discarding.

Also, led me to another website regarding spices.  I have lots of Old spices in the cupboard that I wasn't sure about.  Got guidelines on that so I can make informed decisions about what is in there as well.

getting warmer out there. Don’t know what shrub this is, but it’s really pretty.

Also, crafty folks, it’s time to pick up pinecones  if you use them. They’re everywhere.

The blossoms on the top one look like blue blossom (in color and shape).  However, the leaves don't. Ceanothus are usually glossy and have three ribs down the leaf instead of a single midrib.  Very popular with bees.
