I regularly get disposable coffee cups when I go out. I can change this by bringing my own reusable mug (which I sometimes already do).

    Vivienne Ankeney 5/18/2020 10:12 AM
I could be more conscious of what I am throwing away and where I am disposing of things. This would make me feel like I was doing something important and bigger than me in order to contribute to the health of the planet
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Land Use Learn about Temperate Forests
As you learn more about the scope and seriousness of the environmental challenges we face, what impact does that have on your thinking and actions? What are the parts that feel overwhelming? What parts help you feel hopeful?

    Vivienne Ankeney's avatar
    Vivienne Ankeney 5/18/2020 10:06 AM
As I learn more about the many ways that we are failing our planet as humans, I feel more and more inclined to make any possible changes to lifestyle to help. I want to have kids when I’m older, so it's really important to me that the state of our world improves because I would not want my children living in a world that is falling apart. I’m overwhelmed by how extensive the damage we have done is, but I feel hopeful because attention continues to be drawn to the issue, and I think that people are beginning to understand that change absolutely needs to happen.

My diet is pretty heavy on all of the products we discussed except for palm oil while I rarely consume. I can decrease my negative impact by drinking coffee and getting chocolate from a Rainforest Alliance Certified source, which I often already do, and by reducing the amount of animal product that I consume.
