REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildings Replace Manual ThermostatsHow do you anticipate replacing your thermostats for smart ones will positively impact your life?
Gabriela Bain 4/30/2023 9:57 PMI anticipate it being easier to control the temperature, less electricity and gas waste, and more mindfulness surrounding the energy I use. I got a nest because I read good reviews and it tells you what is a more energy conscious temp rather than just what I want it to be. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Keep Track of Wasted FoodAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money?
Gabriela Bain 4/26/2023 9:24 AMI would rather use the money saved from not wasting food, to spend on college because oh boy is that expensive -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use More Fruits And VeggiesHow does eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat positively affect yourself, other people, and our planet?
Gabriela Bain 4/17/2023 2:29 PMEating more fruits and veggies and reducing meat consumption is good for the planet and my health because I am reducing my own carbon footprint, in addition to buying local fruits and veggies so they weren't shipped around so much. It is good for my health because I have more vitamins and minerals, more fiber for my gut, and less cholesterol added to my body. -
Gabriela Bain 4/12/2023 9:18 PMI keep forgetting to check in!! It is fun to keep doing the actions I have planned for myself though, I feel more conscious about my choices. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Healing & Renewal Go for a Daily WalkWhat have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?
Gabriela Bain 4/05/2023 8:22 PMI noticed crows flying from tree to tree near my house, it is so cute to watch them have their own communications. I think more trees around the sides of the street would help make the noise of the cars driving around less obvious. -
Gabriela Bain 4/03/2023 9:39 PMI'm bummed that I forgot about the challenge when the month started but at least I remembered to sign up for the actions today. I hope I can stay consistent and learn some new, healthy, Earth conscious habits this month. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Reduce Animal ProductsWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our bodies, our planet, and other people?
Gabriela Bain 4/03/2023 9:37 PMIt is really detrimental to our bodies to be eating so much meat especially red meat. I think richer countries eat more meat because people really like umami flavors and you can do a lot of stuff with meat, and they can afford to buy it. Our bodies pay the price though with high blood pressure, high cholesterol and fatty livers. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Eat MindfullyMindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How does your eating experience differ when practicing mindfulness?
Gabriela Bain 4/03/2023 9:34 PMI was able to enjoy the food better, I tasted more of the flavors and I felt full faster!
