  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Reduce Animal Products
Why do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our bodies, our planet, and other people?

I suppose it’s because meat is more expensive and seems like a more filling food. But the thing is, we weren’t really made to digest meat, or any animal products, really. Our digestive system works better with plants. We’re basically herbivores. The proteins in animal products clog a person’s arteries and make them more likely to die of heart related disease such as a heart attack.

I think that this is because meat, as Meryem said, seems like a more expensive, and therefore lavish good that people in richer countries can both afford, but also look at it like a social symbol, in that if they afford meat, it also shows that they are higher up in society.
