Cesar's actions
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
Support Local Food Systems
Plant-Rich Diets
I will source 30 percent of my food from local producers each day. This could include signing up for a local CSA, buying from a farmer's market, visiting a food co-op, foraging with a local group, or growing my own ingredients.
Action Track: Healing & Renewal
Eat Mindfully
I will eat all of my meals without distractions, e.g., phone, computer, TV, or newspaper.
Coastal, Ocean, and Engineered Sinks
Building With Carbon Storing Waste Products
Engineered Sinks
I will spend at least 30 minute(s) researching how people can build with carbon-storing materials - including agricultural byproducts - and discuss it with my peers or post to social media.
Electricity
Choose LED Bulbs
LED Lighting
I will replace 1 incandescent lightbulb(s) with Energy Star-certified LED bulbs, saving up to $14 per fixture per year.
Electricity
Invite a friend to calculate the carbon footprint of their household
Individual actions are important, but people and organizations working together can make a real impact. I will share a carbon calculator with a friend and invite them to calculate the carbon footprint of their household.
Industry
Reduce Single-Use Disposables
Bioplastics
I will avoid buying and using 2 single-use plastics and instead replace them with durable options.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Choose LED BulbsChanging lightbulbs is an excellent first step toward energy efficiency! What's next for you?
Cesar Borrego 4/27/2023 11:08 AMI should have changed my light bulbs a while ago so this challenge was a good way to build motivation for that sort of thing. I think more people would benefit from ecoChallenges such as this one that incentivizes completing the challenge cards. -
Cesar Borrego 4/18/2023 4:43 PMMy recent experiences with mindful eating have led me to appreciate the connection between our consumption habits and climate change. By taking the time to eat without distractions, I've become more aware of the resources used in producing and packaging the food I consume.
