World Clean Up Day - Sept 18

World Cleanup Day 2021 - are you ready to join in? It's so simple (just 3 steps) and together we can make a huge impact on our environment...here's how 1) Rally some friends, family, colleagues living nearby and help together as a team in person or virtually to cleanup our communities, local streets, rivers, lakes & parks (rubbish is to be found everywhere!). Why not even engage with the local schools & Kindergarten and get the children involved too. 2) Choose the day you wish to run your team activity (our suggestion is Friday 17th Sep) and create your own shift under this activity to log your VTO hrs! 3) Share photos of you & your teams in action, in one or both of the Earthforce Slack channels (add #worldcleanupday2021): #eq-earthforce-germany #eq-earthforce-global Remember to always adhere to local Covid safety regulations!

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Sinks Plant Trees
How is planting trees good for your mental, physical, and spiritual health?

    Henrik Brameus (he/him)'s avatar
    Henrik Brameus (he/him) 9/30/2021 7:56 AM
Trees are important, and helping the environment by planting new trees is an important step. I will plant a tree or two once the season is right.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Sinks Buy Bamboo
Are bamboo alternatives readily available in your community? If not, what are other sustainable alternatives?

    Henrik Brameus (he/him)'s avatar
    Henrik Brameus (he/him) 9/17/2021 9:42 AM
When possible I get bamboo over other single use products. But when not, I choose recycled paper products or compostable plastics. I know the last one is not that good, but better than the alternative.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Sinks Forest-Friendly Foods 1
How is your diet currently impacting deforestation? What can you do to decrease your negative impact and increase your positive impact?

    Henrik Brameus (he/him)'s avatar
    Henrik Brameus (he/him) 9/08/2021 1:10 PM
I will make sure that I drink coffee that is shade grown (and preferably organic, etc.) In addition, eating less animal products, and be more selective when I do.

How does environmental quality influence your sense of community?

    Henrik Brameus (he/him)'s avatar
    Henrik Brameus (he/him) 9/08/2021 1:02 PM
Having local farmers who work with organic production and small to medium scale production creates a more livable environment for all.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Electricity Learn More about Micro Wind
Micro turbines can be placed on large structures to take advantage of stronger, steadier breezes. The Eiffel Tower now sports vertical axis turbines that produce electricity for use on site. Where could micro turbines potentially be installed in your city?

    Henrik Brameus (he/him)'s avatar
    Henrik Brameus (he/him) 9/07/2021 1:10 PM
Since I live in the countryside I can't answer about the city. But I can think of places where we could install wind turbines. Like water towers, cell phone towers, and grain silos.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Action Track: Healing & Renewal Eat Mindfully
Mindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How does your eating experience differ when practicing mindfulness?

    Henrik Brameus (he/him)'s avatar
    Henrik Brameus (he/him) 9/07/2021 12:19 PM
I enjoy the food more. And eat a bit slower as well.

What does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for such vision to become reality?

It would be great if we could do more project like this, where we focus on using "waste" to it's highest potential.
