Protect our watershed - learn and do
The Tualatin watershed is crucial to our community's well-being. Learn more about the conservation and restoration activities of the past and present that are ensuring the health of our watershed. Pick an action from the following options: 1) Switch to organic or slow-release fertilizers, 2) Replace a non-permeable surface with a permeable one, 3) Always pick up after pets (if you notice a location, park, or greenspace with a pet waste problem, find a way to improve the disposal infrastructure), 4) Plant tough/hardy plants that require little or no extra water/fertilizer, 5) Use roof water or greywater in the garden instead of having it run directly to the street or down the drain.

Michael Burch-Pesses 5/17/2020 11:26 AMI've been recycling plastics for as long as I can remember, but only recently became aware of the tiny plastics that are added to face cleansers to create a scrubbing action. Those who use face scrubs with these plastics may be unaware that they go down the drain and enter the water stream. I encourage anyone who uses a face scrub to be sure these plastic dots are not in the product they use! -
Michael Burch-Pesses 5/05/2020 8:45 AMOne of the environmental issues that concerns me most is fracking. It's an environmental disaster with regard to water pollution, and it encourages continued use of finite fossil fuels. I would love to see all the energy and money that goes into fracking invested in clean energy instead.-
A Mangai 5/05/2020 9:10 AMThere are many coalitions that work on this. Ecosia and Stop The Money Pipeline Coalition are starting a movement to support banks that invest in green energy and expose banks that fund fracking.
