  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Buildings Learn about 'Green Gentrification'
Cities and towns need to plan for climate change. How can your city or town make its climate action plans equitable and socially just?

    Anny Chen 12/08/2020 4:00 PM
My city/town could make its climate action plans for equitable and socially just by focusing on the people rather than the amount of money they could get from houses.

    Anny Chen 12/08/2020 3:54 PM
Some of the benefits of making your home more energy efficient is that it's a bill each month, and decreases carbon emissions
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

Had you heard of the term "silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?

    Anny Chen's avatar

What does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for such vision to become reality?

    Anny Chen's avatar
    Anny Chen 12/04/2020 11:37 AM
My vision of a sustainable community would look like a cycle of efficient energy being put in and coming out clean as well. Some things we would have to change in order to make this happen would be swapping to a more clean energy source along with a safe place to transfer waste.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Health and Education Learn about the Need for Family Planning
What did you learn about the need for family planning? How do the needs of different people in different places compare to each other?

    Anny Chen's avatar
    Anny Chen 12/03/2020 11:28 AM
I learned that there is not enough information going on about women's health and that there are too many barriers in order to get contraception for women who have decided not to have kids. The needs of different people in different places compare to each other by highlighting certain problems in family planning.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Land Sinks Learn about Temperate Forests
As you learn more about the scope and seriousness of the environmental challenges we face, what impact does that have on your thinking and actions? What are the parts that feel overwhelming? What parts help you feel hopeful?

    Anny Chen's avatar
    Anny Chen 12/02/2020 6:07 AM
It makes me think about how humans have really impacted the environment and how we are so capable of ignoring it, it's overwhelmingly scary how close we are to not being able to go back to a healthy environment but I'm glad more people are hearing about it and there are organizations dedicated to help.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Sinks Research Peatlands
Much of Indonesia's peatlands have been drained so they could be replaced with palm oil or pulp and paper plantations. How can you make choices that help to protect peatlands, even if you live far away from one?

    Anny Chen's avatar
    Anny Chen 12/01/2020 6:16 AM
I can buy products that don't damage the environment and donate to organization dedicated to protecting peat lands/the environment.

    Anny Chen's avatar
    Anny Chen 11/30/2020 8:26 PM
I am most concerned about how much trash we are throwing out per year, and how little choices there are to get rid of it without harming the environment.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Industry Research the Climate Impact of Refrigerants
What did you learn about the climate impact of refrigerants? How do supermarkets contribute to this impact?

    Anny Chen's avatar
    Anny Chen 11/30/2020 11:11 AM
I learned that if refrigerants aren't controlled/ regulated they can cause serious environmental damages. And supermarkets contribute to this impact because they don't control the air flow in the refrigerants.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Health and Education Research Barriers to Participation and Representation
What are some of the barriers that exist to women's equal participation and/or representation in your community?

Some barriers that exist to women's equal participation/representation in my community is job opportunities and education, as less women get chosen for leadership positions.
