REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and Education Help Students Overcome Health BarriersIn what other ways could you help girls overcome health barriers to being able to attend school?
Kaitlyn Cheung 6/02/2023 1:19 PMI think we always forget how lucky we are to be female college students. I think it's important to recognize this privilege and pay attention to the systematic barriers that block others from having the same opportunities as us. One of the student orgs I'm involved with distributes feminine sanitary kits to individuals experiencing homelessness in Westwood, and participating in these events really helps me to see the issue first-hand and work towards improving it little by little.-
Sophia Dinh 6/06/2023 9:25 AMHi Kaitlyn, I totally agree, and I think this is an important issue to talk about. I definitely have been sometimes oblivious to my privilege of being able to attend school, and it can be easy to forget that there are so many barriers for many other girls around the world. I think it's so great that you are in an organization that does that, as sometimes people forget that there are people struggling to meet basic needs, and they don't have something so basic and simple as feminine products. I definitely would love to be a part of an organization like this!

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Reduce Animal ProductsWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our bodies, our planet, and other people?
Kaitlyn Cheung 6/02/2023 1:08 PMBecause meat is more expensive than vegetables/grains, in a social context, meat consumption can be seen as a means of asserting a specific socioeconomic status. The socialization of meat consumption may be part of the reason why people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places.
