REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustry Encourage my company and/or organization to measure and manage their carbon footprintWhat else can you do to hold your organization accountable to implement sustainable practices?
Arran Christie 12/20/2021 11:01 AMMy organization primarily deals with lumber production, so it was imperative that I recommend ethical business practices and a take-and-leave procedure. I suggested that new trees can be planted to make up for the millions of trees cut down for lumber every day. This stemmed from the shortage of lumber during COVID and the company I work for deforesting en mass to make up for losses. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Healing & Renewal Plant TreesHow is planting trees good for your mental, physical, and spiritual health?
Arran Christie 11/03/2021 5:12 PMI planted three birch trees, two western red cedars, and two apple trees in my backyard to keep the others company! My backyard is overgrown with trees because my parents wanted to keep them out of sentimentality. I always love going outside, sitting under a tree, and meditating or reading a book, so there can never be enough! In response to the reflection question, I believe that planting trees can be beneficial for your health because it makes you feel proud of your efforts (mental), lets you exercise by planting them (physical), breath better air (physical), and connects you to nature by giving you a hands-on approach to helping it. Planting trees yourself is a perfect way to give back to nature! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Go for a Daily WalkWhat have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?
Arran Christie 11/02/2021 8:15 AMI used to go on daily walks because I love being in nature, but I haven't been out in quite a while. It was really nice to be outside again. I brought along a journal with me and took notes on everything I saw or noticed. I loved looking at the fallen leaves and observing the birds and other wildlife. I picked some fallen acorns and took them home to plant and make into jewelry as well!
