REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Building Resilience Forest-Friendly Foods 2How difficult or easy was it to change your diet?
Zeni Claude 5/27/2023 8:14 AMI'd kind of already did this a couple if months back. It was relatively difficult, as a lot or vegan products contain palm oil, and even sustainably sourced, I want to avoid it. Chocolate was a little easier as there are tons of brands that are focused on being ethical or fair trade. I know some of them are less genuine than others, and I try my best to find ones that are truly sustainable. I kind of cut out coffee, so that's not really a problem, but I think I've seen some sustainable brands around to check out if I want some again. -
Zeni Claude 5/21/2023 10:48 AMI chose my challenges (though some I have to change as plans fell through) because some of them were ones I thought I'd be able to do this summer, and others I picked randomly because I had absolutely no idea which one to choose. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Learn More about BiomassHad you ever heard of biomass technology before you took this challenge? What did you learn that surprised you? Share your new knowledge with your friends!
Zeni Claude 5/21/2023 10:47 AMI have heard about biomass technology before this, but I didn't completely understand what it was, so this was good to learn. So far I've learned that biomass is basically the oldest energy producer in history (wood for fire, eat...), and that there are more beneficial and more harmful sides to it. I have some videos I posted which showcase some of these sides (although I haven't checked whether they are credible sources...so if you have any comments or questions, feel free to post or say something in person!) -

This is another interesting video on biomass that seems to use it in a better way than the previous one I posted. -

Zeni Claude 5/19/2023 10:43 AMhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OpEB6hCpIGM I found this interesting video about the connection between biofuels and corn. It doesn't really talk about the massive biodiversity loss, but focuses more on the energy potential and such, and I figured it'd be a good add on to the documentary we saw in class! -
Zeni Claude 5/19/2023 6:26 AMSo far, it's going pretty well! I still have some larger, one time actions I need to get going, but my daily ones I think I'm keeping up with! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Learn about Local Indigenous PracticesWhat did you learn about indigenous peoples' land management that you can apply in your own life?
Zeni Claude 5/19/2023 6:21 AMAll can be found in my slide, but although I've known that Indigenous peoples have been managing land in ways healthier than what is typically done, I didn't know it was better to such an extent. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Healing & Renewal Eat MindfullyMindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How does your eating experience differ when practicing mindfulness?
Zeni Claude 5/18/2023 9:54 AMI can catch up with my family, and have more meaningful conversations that allow me use my brain in a different way than just absorbing information from a screen. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use More Fruits And VeggiesHow does eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat positively affect yourself, other people, and our planet?
Zeni Claude 5/10/2023 8:54 AMLess methane produced, more organic practices encouraged, good for my body.
