Noelle Cole 3/31/2021 7:46 AMToday is Manatee Appreciation Day – March 31, 2021
"We celebrate Manatee Appreciation Day every last Wednesday of March, on March 31 this year, to raise awareness for the endangered sea cows who are quickly falling victim to pollution, global warming, and hunting. Did you know manatees weigh as much as 1,200 pounds but survive on seagrass alone? And that they have no natural enemy except humans? This day is celebrated to appreciate, learn more about, and protect the bloated bean-bag look-alikes from deadly human activities." -
Noelle Cole 3/30/2021 7:16 AM"Sooner or later, we will have to recognize that the Earth has rights, too, to live without pollution. What mankind must know is that human beings cannot live without Mother Earth, but the planet can live without humans." – Evo Morales -
Noelle Cole 3/30/2021 7:08 AMToday is Take a Walk in the Park Day – March 30, 2021
"Take a Walk in the Park Day is celebrated annually on March 30, which encourages all of us to invest in our health without spending any money! Who doesn’t like spending some quiet time in nature? All you have to do is wear some comfortable shoes, find a walking partner (or not), and go for a peaceful walk in one of your preferred parks. Did you know that there are 423 national park sites in the U.S.? Taking a leisurely stroll in the park is a fantastic way to clear your mind of everyday worries and appreciate the natural beauty around you. " -

-
REFLECTION QUESTIONCoastal, Ocean, and Engineered SinksCan biochar provide additional benefits besides sequestering carbon?
Noelle Cole 3/22/2021 8:04 AMThese are a few added benefits of Biochar:
1. Biochar improves soil fertility, which stimulates plant growth.
2. Biochar reduces the need for chemical fertilizers.
3. Biochar provides a safe habitat for microorganisms.
4. Biochar offers a way to dispose of manure created by livestock. -
