  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Health and Education Fund Family Planning
When family planning focuses on healthcare provision and meeting the expressed needs of women, it results in empowerment, equality, and well-being, and the benefits to the planet are side effects. Why is family planning an important civil rights consideration?

    Veronica Dailey 3/15/2021 8:43 AM
Family planning is an important civil rights consideration because family planning is a human right for women. Women should be able to choose how many children they want (or don't want) and when they want to have them (or not have them).
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Support Women-Owned Businesses
Globally, women typically invest a higher proportion of their earnings in their families and communities than men. What have you done in the past to support women-owned businesses? How can you better support communities by supporting women?

    Veronica Dailey's avatar
    Veronica Dailey 3/15/2021 8:41 AM
In the past I have supported women-owned businesses by buying products from small businesses run by women in my community. I shop locally for things like flowers, plants, chapstick, candles, jewelry, etc. I can better support communities by supporting women by continuing to purchase from women-owned businesses and purchasing from some new ones as well.

What did you learn about the need for family planning? How do the needs of different people in different places compare to each other?

    Veronica Dailey's avatar
    Veronica Dailey 3/15/2021 8:38 AM
I learned that it is extremely important to plan before having a family because you need to figure out what your household demand will be on climate sensitive resources such as food and water and how your family will affect the environment. The needs of different people in different places compare to each other because we all have the basic human needs such as food, water, shelter, etc.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Learn the Truth About Expiration Dates
How does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?

    Veronica Dailey's avatar
    Veronica Dailey 3/09/2021 9:53 AM
Knowing these differences allows you to make better decisions because you'll waste less food which is better for the environment. Use by is the recommended date for using the product for the best quality and sell by tells the store how long the food can be displayed in the store for sale. However, most food is good for a little while after it's due date.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Health and Education Research Barriers to Participation and Representation
What are some of the barriers that exist to women's equal participation and/or representation in your community?

    Veronica Dailey's avatar
    Veronica Dailey 3/07/2021 1:38 PM
One barrier that exists in my community back home is that women are not being elected to local boards as much as men so they are limited to being able to make the same amount of higher-up decisions as men do in my community

How does environmental quality influence your sense of community?

    Veronica Dailey's avatar
    Veronica Dailey 3/07/2021 1:33 PM
Environmental quality influences sense of community because better quality within a community leads to higher interactions among community members as well as other positive community events.

My city/town can make its climate action plans equitable and socially just by making them the same for everyone and by implementing them a little at a time.

I have never had a significant experience in nature that altered my perspective or focus but if I did I'm sure I would shift my actions to help reduce the problem that I was seeing.
