Chloe's actions
Action Track: Healing & Renewal
Tend A Garden
I will tend to a garden, or prepare for one, each day using sustainable gardening practices.
Action Track: Healing & Renewal
Go for a Daily Walk
Walkable Cities
I will take a walk for 30 minutes each day and take note of the infrastructure that makes walking more or less enjoyable, accessible, and possible.
Action Track: Healing & Renewal
Explore My Area
Sometimes protecting nature requires feeling connected to nature. I will invest 30 minutes in exploring and appreciating a natural area in my region, whether a forest, wetland, coastal area, or somewhere else.
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
Zero-waste Cooking
Reduced Food Waste
I will cook 3 meal(s) with zero-waste each day
Transportation
Stay on the Ground
Telepresence, High-Speed Rail
Instead of traveling by plane, I will find an alternative way to accomplish the goals of an upcoming trip (i.e. telepresence, vacation locally).

REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportationWhat was your process like for restructuring your trip? How can you avoid more air travel in the future?
Chloe Eng 4/08/2022 12:07 PMRecently I had to travel to Rockingham, North Carolina for a race that my boyfriend was attending. We were going with a large group of people and although flying would have probably been cheaper we all carpooled. We could have flown but we chose to drive, driving reduces emissions per person and is more environmentally friendly. In the future to avoid more air travel we could consider carpooling again. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseIn North America, up to 65% of food waste happens at the consumer level. Chef Steven Satterfield advocates for utilizing every part of a vegetable. How can you incorporate using an entire vegetable, including the skins, tops, and stalks during your next meal prep?
Chloe Eng 4/08/2022 12:01 PMI love broccoli and eat it quite often. Broccoli is one of the vegetables I don't mind eating whole. For my next meal prep I will sauté the whole broccoli (stems included) in olive oil and garlic. This would incorporate the whole vegetable and cause zero waste cooking. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Healing & RenewalHave you ever had a significant experience in nature that altered your perspective or focus? If so, please describe it.
Chloe Eng 3/22/2022 6:06 AMI had a significant experience in nature that altered my perspective when I had a stressful day and went on an adventure by myself. On this adventure I went down a trail in my neighborhood that I haven't before. At the end of the trail I discovered an active quarry also known as traprock. This altered my experience because I live in a very populated neighborhood, who would have known that just 1 mile through the woods there would be this huge quarry. It was just a really cool experience. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Healing & RenewalWhat have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?
Chloe Eng 3/22/2022 5:56 AMOn my daily walks I have noticed that the weather is getting warmer and my mood is improving. I have enjoyed that my bestfriend has joined me for these daily walks and we are able to talk about our day. On infrastructure change that could improve my walks is a sidewalk. Where I walk is in my neighborhood and there s\is no sidewalks. A sidewalk would improve my safety.
