Some of the barriers that exist to women's equal participation and/or representation in your community is dress code in schools and a lot of childish and uneducated teens and adults making very sexist remarks towards females

What concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.

    Elle Fisher 12/05/2020 8:11 AM
What concerns me most about how we are affecting the planet is that we produce roughly 310 million tons of plastic each year and we could have 90 percent of current plastics could be derived from plants instead. We should be composting to prevent a lot of carbon dioxide and methane form being released into the atmosphere
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Industry Learn about the impact of old refrigerants
Why are old refrigerant gases so harmful to our environment?

    Elle Fisher's avatar
    Elle Fisher 12/05/2020 12:22 AM
Refrigerants, specifically CFCs and HCFCs, were once culprits in depleting the ozone layer.

Industry Learn About & Practice Sustainable Fashion
How can you express your personality, creativity, and values in ways that don't require fast fashion or buying more clothes and accessories?

    Elle Fisher's avatar
    Elle Fisher 12/05/2020 12:15 AM
Use of fabrics that are most eco-friendly like linen, hmp, etc.
Natural and low-impact dyes offer a greener alternative. Natural dyes such as indigo and cochineal are derived from plants, animals, or insects. The greenest choice of all is to reuse clothing. Recycling reduces waste and energy use, but reusing clothes cuts both to almost nothing. Go to thrift stores, garage sales etc
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Industry Research the Climate Impact of Refrigerants
What did you learn about the climate impact of refrigerants? How do supermarkets contribute to this impact?

    Elle Fisher's avatar
    Elle Fisher 12/04/2020 11:05 PM
Every refrigerator and air conditioner contains chemical refrigerants that absorb and release heat to enable chilling. Refrigerants, specifically CFCs and HCFCs, were once culprits in depleting the ozone layer. Fluorinated gases have a potent greenhouse effect and are widely used as refrigerants. Managing leaks and disposal of these chemicals can avoid emissions in buildings and landfills.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Health and Education Learn about the Need for Family Planning
What did you learn about the need for family planning? How do the needs of different people in different places compare to each other?

    Elle Fisher's avatar
    Elle Fisher 12/04/2020 10:50 PM
What I learned about the need for family planning is that Colorado is doing some great things by providing the needed resources for low-income women who are unable to afford such care. The needs of different people in different places are compared to each other depending on the circumstance like if a teen needs an abortion or someone needs an implant, it all just varies depending on the situation. In some states, teen pregnancy and abortion rates are higher than other and they ould need more attention compared to other states, especially the ones with low poverty and low-income rates

My diet call for more land which means more deforestation, what I can do to decrease my negative impact is eat plant-based foods and search for things like the Rainforest Alliance, and I can increase my positive impacts by spreading awareness and priming the people I know to help with deforestation
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Electricity Learn More about Micro Wind
Micro turbines can be placed on large structures to take advantage of stronger, steadier breezes. The Eiffel Tower now sports vertical axis turbines that produce electricity for use on site. Where could micro turbines potentially be installed in your city?
