REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricityWhat is the most exciting solution you explored? Why is it exciting to you?
Joshua G 4/04/2021 5:58 PMThe readings and research that I have done for my project, on online articles, and tangible data show many more solutions and alternatives to creating electricity while not damaging the Earth. It fascinates me that there are many methods of conducting power alternatively yet we still use methods that are cheaper but drastically damage the atmosphere and crust of the Earth. The use of wind turbines, micro turbines, tidal energy, and solar power all are innovative and amazing ideas that should be explored and used by every company and person. I never knew such methods existed like the tidal energy as I did not think that was even possible until actually researching it. Making people known of such methods will help spread awareness to both the young and old while helping protect our future generations. It is exciting to me because a world where we can use clean energy is one that I hope to see implemented in the near future through the education and government systems across the world. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricityMicro turbines can be placed on large structures to take advantage of stronger, steadier breezes. The Eiffel Tower now sports vertical axis turbines that produce electricity for use on site. Where could micro turbines potentially be installed in your city?
Joshua G 4/04/2021 5:49 PMConsidering that the Eiffel Tower is about 1,063 feet tall, two places that I have in mind that they could potentially build micro turbines in is the One World Trade Center and Empire State Building. The World Trade Center has a height of 1,776 feet and the Empire State Building is 1,250 feet tall. With these massive heights into the sky, it would be able to take advantage of the stronger winds and breezes that I can provide. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricityWhat did you learn about wave and tidal energy? How do they compare to other energy sources?
Joshua G 2/21/2021 3:40 PMI never knew that such technology can be implemented to possibly cover 25% or more of the United States electricity usage in the future. I have only heard of other sources like windmill and solar technology for natural energy. This has the potential to be one of the greatest alternatives to receiving energy by using the planet's natural ocean to create a powerful conduction of electricity. While it is still in the early stages of its life and has many challenges behind it, it is worth looking into a source that does not include pollution. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildingsWhy is taking action on climate change important to you? Why do you care?
Joshua G 2/21/2021 3:34 PMI believe taking action on climate change is important to me so that the future generations on Earth can prosper in a safe and less hazardous environment. A world with low harmful admissions to the planet's atmosphere and physical form. If this problem is not taken care of soon, these can be the actions to lead to a harder life for everyone in the future.
