REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Learn the Truth About Expiration DatesHow does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?
Parker Garrett 4/29/2023 7:41 PMI think it empowers people to make better decisions so there's less food waste. Throwing something out to early and wasting it because you didn't know the difference between the different dates. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Watch a Video about Methane DigestersWhat does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for such vision to become reality?
Parker Garrett 4/29/2023 7:39 PMA sustainable community (To me) looks like a city flourishing with plant life, solar panels, public gardens, and public transportation. There would be trees everywhere and we would be visibly using LESS of everything (electricity/gas). I think we would have to completely change the way we use thongs. We would have to use less of everything and almost completely chang the way we see the world. -
Parker Garrett 4/18/2023 6:01 PMWent to target with a friend in her car -
Parker Garrett 4/11/2023 3:43 PMI went to the food truck outside of the library and got chicken but I don't like things with bones in them so I gave the chicken to my friend and just had the rice/shaved ice/mac n cheese/bread, I think that counts. -
Parker Garrett 4/10/2023 6:08 PMWe went to Target and then to a park nearby and carpooled with some friends! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Try CarpoolingList some of the places you frequent often (work, grocery store, natural areas). Could you choose one or two days a week to schedule driving with a friend, neighbor or co-worker to these places?
Parker Garrett 4/04/2023 4:54 PMI go to Target VERY often but I also don't have my own car here on campus so every time I go its in my friends car, which counts as carpooling. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Use Muscle PowerHow do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience or enjoyment differ while walking, riding transit, biking or driving?
Parker Garrett 4/04/2023 4:44 PMEvery time you choose to use your car over public transport you are putting more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere compared to if you had walked or taken public transport. I like walking around campus over driving like some of my friends, I understand its annoying at times to walk but its nice to enjoy it once in a while at least. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Reduce Animal ProductsWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our bodies, our planet, and other people?
Parker Garrett 4/04/2023 4:36 PMBecause they can obviously afford it and it's so readily available in all fast food restaurants, I find it harder actually to find plant-based or vegan options compared to meat options. Eating meat releases way more carbon into the atmosphere compared to a plant-based diet and cattle farms destroy land/take up a lot of space alone.
