REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Go for a Daily WalkWhat have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?
Jay Geibel 6/14/2022 5:32 AMMy walks typically consist of some road and some trail walking. I like the lack of infrastructure in many ways. I get a chance to feel secluded and among nature. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Sinks Explore My AreaHow can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place -- your deep knowledge of and appreciation for your surroundings?
Jay Geibel 6/08/2022 8:37 AMAppreciating the biodiversity, even in areas that don't seem to be very "wild" always brings an appreciation. Also, as I learn more about biology and the incredible diversity of life it enhances that appreciation and desire to explore the smaller spaces around me. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Support Local Food SystemsDependable fresh food, supporting local farmers and building resilient communities are just a few benefits of local food systems. Which of these (or other) advantages inspire you the most?
Jay Geibel 6/01/2022 9:30 AMsupporting local farmers and an overall strong agricultural sector in Vermont is important to me. I especially want to support those growers who are doing things really well. Those operations who are focused on building soil. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildings Research Heat PumpsWhy is taking action on climate change important to you? Why do you care?
Jay Geibel 5/25/2022 9:49 AMMy children are three years old now and will be inheriting an out-of-balance planet. Providing them with the knowledge and example of how to act towards achieving a more balanced planet is important to me. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Reduce Animal ProductsWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our bodies, our planet, and other people?
Jay Geibel 5/18/2022 5:19 AMpeople in richer countries can export or externalize the costs of eating meat onto poorer countries. Wealthier populations that are consuming more meat are not directly confronted with the impacts, including degraded soil and water and air pollution. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Healing & Renewal Tend A GardenHave you ever had a significant experience in nature that altered your perspective or focus? If so, please describe it.
Jay Geibel 5/11/2022 10:11 AMAs a mountain guide I had moments in the wilderness that were both stressful and profoundly calming, often one right after the other.
