REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and Education Learn about the Need for Family PlanningWhat did you learn about the need for family planning? How do the needs of different people in different places compare to each other?
Kim Griffin 4/05/2021 2:13 PMAfter reading the article on family planning, I learned that effective family planning methods that spotlight education, empowerment and well-being not only lead to less greenhouse gas emissions (fewer people = fewer emissions), but also less stress on natural resources. Women in lower-income countries lack access to contraceptives. This is also happening in wealthier countries, such as the U.S. The percentage of unplanned pregnancies in the U.S. is 45%. -
Kim Griffin 4/05/2021 8:30 AMOnly 3 more days left of the challenge! Looking forward to seeing our team's results and posts! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Research and Consider Switching to a Hybrid or Electric VehicleReducing (or eliminating) exhaust emissions and improving public health are two benefits of green vehicles. What other motivators inspire you to consider switching to a more fuel-efficient vehicle?
Kim Griffin 3/31/2021 10:31 AMA major motivator that would inspire me to consider switching to a more fuel-efficient vehicle would be mileage. I'd love to get better mileage for less money!

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Smaller PortionsWhile dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come from eating/serving smaller portions?
Kim Griffin 3/29/2021 4:09 PMLoosing a little bit of weight while using smaller plates is a huge benefit for me! Also, when I have guests over or when my kids want a snack I like to use smaller plates so food does not go to waste.-

REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Sinks Explore My AreaHow can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place -- your deep knowledge of and appreciation for your surroundings?
Kim Griffin 3/19/2021 2:34 PMSpending time outdoors helps with reducing stress for me. It's a break from sitting in front of a computer most of the day, and it helps lower my blood pressure. It also helps with my mood. when I simply just go outside and take a walk. I try to take advantage of my 10-15 minute breaks by walking outside and enjoying the solar panel garden at our office. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildings Plan to InsulateWhat are some of the benefits of making your home more energy efficient?
Kim Griffin 3/12/2021 11:46 AMInsulation impedes unwanted airflow in or out of buildings. In new construction or retrofits, it makes heating and cooling more energy efficient, with lower emissions.
