This is a reflection on my EcoChallenge experience. Although I haven't been updating everyday, this EcoChallenge actually benefited me and my wallet quite a bit. For me, the biggest benefit in all this is actively getting involved. I took on challenges that can easily fit in my schedule without me having to change everything like changing the way I eat or wasting less food when I cook. The only problem for me is the fact that I forget to get back to this website and update my progress.  I think this activity is pretty fun and I also think we should promote it for other classes. However, instead of making the activity last all semester, I think it should be last around 4 to 8 weeks. That way people would be more inclined to update more often.  My proudest action is the fact that I was able to be vegan for a month and experience it. Because now, I know that I could never go fully vegan. It makes me 15% more sad not being able to eat my favorite foods since they are all meat based. Honestly, the thing that I would like to improve on the most is to explore my city more. Even though I have lived in Montreal for my whole life,  I'm only familiar with a few areas. So my goal for next summer is to take my bike out and explore. Overall this was a good activity 7/10.

Because I challenged myself to go vegan for a month, I have adopted a plant based diet. At the same time I also do my best to reduce food waste. So far it's going well. Do I feel any different? Not really. Am I helping the environment? Kind of. It's a good experience.

I changed all of the incandescent lights in my house for LED lights about a little more than month ago. LED bulbs use more than 75% less energy than incandescent lighting. At low power levels, the difference is even larger. Bright LED flood lamps use only 11 to 12 watts while creating a light output comparable to a 50-watt incandescent bulb. So, this action has reduced the amount of energy in my home and make my electric bill a bit cheaper.
