Timothy Hart 4/27/2023 12:30 PMI went to the store and used a backpack to avoid using any more plastic bags -
Timothy Hart 4/27/2023 12:28 PMwalked to target... I was late to class but it was cool taking a walk and seeing the plants around the city -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use More Fruits And VeggiesHow does eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat positively affect yourself, other people, and our planet?
Timothy Hart 4/26/2023 11:54 AMEating less meat really cuts down on the amount of fat that I eat and I can really see how helpful it would be from a health perspective. On a global scale less meat means less land used for cattle grazing which means more wildland and wildlife. I am an advocate for sustainability but i have to have some meat every once in a while. I wish fruit can be cheaper as a small box of blueberries are 6 dollars! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Watch a Video about Methane DigestersWhat does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for such vision to become reality?
Timothy Hart 4/26/2023 11:51 AMI watched the video from MSU and I think this solution is quite doable. I think of my Community College Las Positas which has its own vineyard and cattle and I think solutions like mixing food waste and cattle manure to help them grow there grapes could also power the school. it almost sounds too good to be true! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustry Practice the 5 R'sWhat are some more "R's" you could add to your daily practice to reduce your waste?
Timothy Hart 4/26/2023 11:42 AMI have been recycling bottes as well as trying to cut back from them entirely. In addition to this I also reuse a cloth bag the school had given me during orientation. during this time the bag had ripped and instead of throwing it away i asked my mom to sew it for me so i can continue using the bag. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Eat MindfullyMindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How does your eating experience differ when practicing mindfulness?
Timothy Hart 4/26/2023 11:40 AMits nice to eat without distractions, first of all i find that I actually eat slower and I tend to get more full when there are no distractions around. Each day I have been setting a timer for lunch or diner and I eat with my headphones on with no music to block out noise or I sit outside alone and eat. this meditative eating really gets you to think of exactly what your eating and where it comes from. -
Timothy Hart 4/26/2023 11:36 AMI found it challenging to eat more fruit and vegetables every day because of the price of fruits and vegetables and how quickly they can go bad! -
Timothy Hart 4/20/2023 5:27 PMMy "Garden" that I am tending to is 2 plants I had bought at home depot and iv been watering them weekly and keeping them green but if i do well enough I may plant one outside and the other plant is an indoor plant. -
Timothy Hart 4/16/2023 4:05 PMI have been falling behind on composting and trying to maintain a garden as I have gotten sick and wasnt able to do as much as I wanted but I am still doing daily walks and mindful eating. -
Timothy Hart 4/05/2023 5:49 PMI continue to compost daily and it is not a one time task as I continue to collect scraps from the kitchen and mix a compost pile.
