I will ride my electric bike or walk rather than driving for at least 1 trip per day.

Reduced Food Waste
I will keep a daily log of food I throw away during Drawdown Ecochallenge, either because it went bad before I ate it, I put too much on my plate, or it was scraps from food preparation.

REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterialsGood job on choosing recycled paper! How can you take your action a step further?
Kasey Hayden 1/24/2020 8:38 PMWe're working to get the Sneak Preview on Recycled Paper, but we haven't found a way to fund it yet. We'll keep working on it. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money?
Kasey Hayden 1/24/2020 8:38 PMIt's been a tad disheartening tracking our waste of food. With little kids it seems inevitable that we throw away more than I would like. However, with the flu going around and their unending "sick" germs, we just can't seem to bring ourselves to eat after them to not have waste. I try to serve smaller portions, but it seems with a 3 year old I'm always throwing away food. We'll keep trying. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our bodies, our planet, and other people?
Kasey Hayden 1/24/2020 8:35 PMIt's been interesting to note after starting this challenge that we actually don't eat that much meat. Some days we don't eat any meat at all. It was eye opening.
