  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Electricity Generation Watch a Video about Methane Digesters
What does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for such vision to become reality?

    Autumn Henhoeffer's avatar
    Autumn Henhoeffer 5/27/2020 9:20 AM
My vision of a stable community would be sustainable foods and businesses, community events, charities, organic foods, free range animals, and definitely liberal. A lot would need to be changed. A lot.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Use Research Peatlands
Much of Indonesia's peatlands have been drained so they could be replaced with palm oil or pulp and paper plantations. How can you make choices that help to protect peatlands, even if you live far away from one?

    Autumn Henhoeffer's avatar
    Autumn Henhoeffer 5/20/2020 10:46 AM
I cannot use peat soil for gardening and I can only support companies that sell coconut oil.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Land Use Learn about Temperate Forests
As you learn more about the scope and seriousness of the environmental challenges we face, what impact does that have on your thinking and actions? What are the parts that feel overwhelming? What parts help you feel hopeful?

    Autumn Henhoeffer's avatar
    Autumn Henhoeffer 5/15/2020 7:47 AM
It is something that I think about everyday. It all feels overwhelming. I am hopeful for my generation to make the change.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Properly Dispose of Refrigerants
How do you address your own feelings of concern, fear or despair about climate change?

    Autumn Henhoeffer's avatar
    Autumn Henhoeffer 5/15/2020 7:42 AM
I address them by trying to make a change.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Share Bioplastic Disposal Tips
What concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.

    Autumn Henhoeffer's avatar
    Autumn Henhoeffer 5/15/2020 7:40 AM
I’m concerned about the heating of the climate and the limitation of resources. We are already causing hundreds of plants and animals to go extinct and now we are starting to die out too along with resources.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Use Local Perennial Biomass
Climate scientist Katharine Hayhoe states that "The reason we care about climate change is because it affects the people and places that we care about." What is happening (or will happen) in your area that will affect the people and places you care about?

    Autumn Henhoeffer 5/08/2020 8:57 AM
North Caroline will flood and I have family on the coast which scares me because I don't want to lose them.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Learn More about Silvopasture
Had you heard of the term "silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?

    Autumn Henhoeffer's avatar
    Autumn Henhoeffer 5/06/2020 9:17 AM
I had not. I think the biggest advantage is increasing of carbon sequestration.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Reduce Animal Products
Why do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our bodies, our planet, and other people?

    Autumn Henhoeffer's avatar
    Autumn Henhoeffer 5/06/2020 9:13 AM
Because animals are very expensive to raise and slaughter. Eating more meat and pasteurizing  animals increases carbon emissions which effect the plant, and people. Also eating too much meat is not healthy.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food Learn the Truth About Expiration Dates
How does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?

    Autumn Henhoeffer 5/04/2020 11:52 AM
It doesn't, I already ignore the labels because I already knew this information.
