Less Meatless Meals

I've created this goal because I really want to cut back on meat. If I can give up meat overall that would be a blessing. I know that it'll take some time, but I need to have confidence so I can accomplish this goal.

How are environmental issues like black carbon and other emissions from cooking fires or rudimentary cookstoves also human health and social justice issues? Why do these issues matter to you?

Smoke that’s from energy generated in households due to cooking, heating, and lighting is a major supplier to air pollution that’s indoor especially since it causes so many illnesses. There are so many people in the world that depend on things like wood, charcoal, crop residues, and coal when it comes to the stove or even open fire, and that’s because people need that to benefit their household. In the developing world mainly women and children are exposed to smoke that has a high concentration of pollutants that has particles composed with toxic compounds. These issues matter to me because we have to protect our environment, and we also have to promote sustainable development for the future.

Spending more time outdoors can enhance my sense of place because I would have a more fulfilling life. It will definitely boost my wellbeing. When you spend more time in places of natural settings you can have a healthier and happier lifestyle. It’s good to appreciate your surrounding especially when it is an important asset to the environment.

Why is it important that girls have equal access to education in order to reduce our global greenhouse gas emissions?

It is important for girls to have equal access to education in order to reduce our global greenhouse gas emissions because girls suffer excessively from climate breakdown, and failure to have access to education makes the problem even worse. It was said that educating girls work better to protect the climate than many technological solutions.

“The women and girls who can do so much to avert global heating reaching disastrous levels need to be able to exercise their right to education.”

Why do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our bodies, our planet, and other people?

People in richer countries consume more meat than other places because the more people earn, the more meat they will want to eat. It mainly has to do with income. In the year of 2017 alone, the amount of meat that was consumed was 330 million tons, which is an excessive amount of meat. Research on BBC shows that the annual average earnings over the last 50 years have increased, and so was the ability to consume more meats. People living in low-income countries ate less or no meat at all. Middle income countries such as Brazil's meat consumption are growing, in which they expect to rise throughout the years.

Even though meat is an important and popular part of our heritage, eating more meat affects our bodies because it can cause obesity, cancer, and even heart disease. Meat actually makes the planet sick and those in it because raising animals such as cows, chickens, and pigs causes the same amount of greenhouse gas compared to automobiles.

    Hello,

My name is Jelisa Holm and I’ve literally been trying my hardest to live a sustainable lifes, especially when it comes to the things I consume. There are so many things that I need to cut back on such as things like sugar, certain meats, carbs, and several other things. I know I can do it, but I don’t know what is stopping me. There are so many people who are now becoming vegan because of the great benefits that comes with it. A vegan diet is rich in nutrients, it can help you to lose excess weight, and it can also lower blood sugar levels and improve your kidney function. That is just to name a few. The food choices we make in life has a big effect on our environment. Even small changes in our eating habit can make a change. What is interesting is that fewer toxic chemicals can reduce global warming and preserve the resources for our ocean. I challenge myself to change my eating habit, so that I can better my lifestyle. I know that it won’t be an easy process, but I’m ready to start.
