Dana Hunter 3/13/2021 11:27 AMAs of today, this challenge has been going pretty well. I have really started to notice how easy it was to make some of these changes. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Advocate For Greener VehiclesHow does advocating for green vehicles in your community connect to your values? How might you be able to get others involved in advocating for the shift to fuel-efficient vehicles?
Dana Hunter 3/11/2021 5:47 AMI think everyone should have access to greener more sustainable things in order to decrease our affect on the environment, so these more efficient cars should be more accessible since they are pretty important. Others might be more involved in advocating for this if they knew the benefits of these vehicles and the money they would save in the long run. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Use Muscle PowerHow do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience or enjoyment differ while walking, riding transit, biking or driving?
Dana Hunter 3/11/2021 5:42 AMI have my own car, so that is what I use to travel. I haven't used public transportation here. I don't think I will because I have my car here, but it only makes sense that if more of us used public transportation here then we would have more engagement. Walking around campus always makes me feel more engaged with this community compared to when I am driving. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Go for a Daily WalkWhat have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?
Dana Hunter 3/11/2021 5:40 AMI always enjoy seeing the canal by campus. With the campus construction going on now, the walks aren't as exciting, but the canal definitely makes up for the construction right now. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustry Practice the 5 R'sWhat are some more "R's" you could add to your daily practice to reduce your waste?
Dana Hunter 3/11/2021 5:38 AMI think another R that I could practice would be rethink. Sometimes I think it is important to rethink what you are buying, how you are using it, if you really need it and how to properly dispose of it. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildings Plan to InsulateWhat are some of the benefits of making your home more energy efficient?
Dana Hunter 3/10/2021 5:18 PMMaking my home more energy efficient will not only save me and my family money, but my home being more energy efficient will also keep an excess amount of materials out of landfills. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Building Resilience Forest-Friendly Foods 2How difficult or easy was it to change your diet?
Dana Hunter 3/10/2021 4:59 PMIt was pretty easy to change my diet because I have been trying to cut out things like palm oil from my diet since middle school after I found out what happens to the forests and animals to produce that. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Sinks Buy BambooAre bamboo alternatives readily available in your community? If not, what are other sustainable alternatives?
Dana Hunter 3/10/2021 4:36 PMBamboo alternatives are readily available in my community here at Brockport and back at home. Not a lot of people use more eco-friendly alternatives, but they are available for use. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Sinks Choose Better Wood ProductsBeyond carbon sequestration, what other benefits do forests offer you personally?
Dana Hunter 3/10/2021 4:34 PMThe forests provide me with materials for shelter, food, water and materials for fuel. Forests also provide fruits. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustry Invite a friend to calculate the carbon footprint of their householdWhat kinds of discussions did you have, or are you hoping to have with friends about climate change?
Dana Hunter 3/08/2021 3:18 PMMy best friend is an environmental science major, so we frequently talk about the direction the environment is headed and what we can do to help fix the situation not only as individuals, but how we can educate people around us to do the same.
