  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Transportation Go for a Daily Walk
What have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?

    Idalee Keller's avatar
    Idalee Keller 6/08/2022 11:11 AM
It feels great to go for a daily walk. I enjoy seeing all the different buildings and types of architecture. Something that would make walking more enjoyable would be less asphalt, and more environmentally camouflaged pathways.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Zero-waste Cooking
In North America, up to 65% of food waste happens at the consumer level. Chef Steven Satterfield advocates for utilizing every part of a vegetable. How can you incorporate using an entire vegetable, including the skins, tops, and stalks during your next meal prep?

    Idalee Keller's avatar
    Idalee Keller 6/08/2022 10:38 AM
Many vegetable skins are the most nutritious part of the vegetable, so they should be eaten not wasted. You can wash the veggie really well to make sure the skin is clean before eating it.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Action Track: Healing & Renewal Eat Mindfully
Mindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How does your eating experience differ when practicing mindfulness?

    Idalee Keller's avatar
    Idalee Keller 6/08/2022 10:35 AM
When I eat mindfully, I enjoy the food more, and am more aware of the effect it has on my body. I also tend to not overeat, as I am more present when I am eating mindfully.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Action Track: Healing & Renewal Explore My Area
How can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place -- your deep knowledge of and appreciation for your surroundings?

    Idalee Keller's avatar
    Idalee Keller 6/08/2022 10:34 AM
By spending more time in nature, I feel more connected to the plants and animals around me, and feel more inspired to protect their precious lives.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Support Women-Owned Businesses

    Idalee Keller 6/08/2022 10:29 AM
I work at and support Althea's Attic Boutique, which is owned by a woman, and run by a team of women. I can support more female-owned businesses by researching the stores I choose to shop at.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

Restrict use of one time plastic, refurbish a space using solely repurposed materials, and renew the length of a material's life time through proper storage and use.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

    Idalee Keller's avatar
    Idalee Keller 5/27/2022 11:05 AM
I express myself through thrifted clothes which are unique and vintage treasures. I also express myself through language and artwork (and non- consumer items).
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Use Muscle Power
How do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience or enjoyment differ while walking, riding transit, biking or driving?

    Idalee Keller's avatar
    Idalee Keller 5/20/2022 10:55 AM
I am more engaged when I walk and bike through town than when I drive, because I stop to talk with people in the community. It is ultimately nicer to go for a walk or bike ride than to drive.

I have been reflecting on this as well lately. It's amazing how little we see of the world when we are driving.  We certainly do a lot of it in Vermont, despite having a strong "outdoor" ethic.
