Reducing (or eliminating) exhaust emissions and improving public health are two benefits of green vehicles. What other motivators inspire you to consider switching to a more fuel-efficient vehicle?

For me the main benefit of buying a more fuel-efficient vehicle would be the gas cost. As a hybrid vehicle is able to switch between electric and gas the car tends to not burn through gas as fast as a traditional vehicle would. My transmission recently went out in my car so, even before this challenge I had the motivation to look into a hybrid vehicle as I have been learning about all the benefits of a green vehicle in this class. My car currently runs through gas every two weeks minimum which becomes costly as gas prices are so high at the moment. My roomate has a Prius and she has been telling me about all the benefits her car has on gas leading her to only fill up two-three times a month. Hybrid vehicles in general use up to 30% less fuel per mile than a traditional vehicle saving you more money at the gas pump over a much longer duration of time in comparison to other gas cars making up for the extra costs you spend on purchasing the electric car initially. I am personally opting for a used hybrid vehicle but, no matter what the car still has the same benefits!  That alone is enough motivation for me, personally, too switch to a hybrid vehicle.

Why do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our bodies, our planet, and other people?

Eating more meat than recommended is simply just not healthy for your body as there is only so much protein and nutrition that can come from meat versus other products and food groups that are out on the market. People in richer countries are able to eat more meat than those in the places because they are able to afford the high prices of meat where as the normal individual would have to ration money for meat as well as other foods and resources one may need to survive.

Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Smaller Portions
While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come from eating/serving smaller portions?

I believe this will be overall healthier for you as you are getting everything out of the meals you are making and the food you are buying. This additionally makes this goal more financially positive as well since you are spending less money on extras that you may not truly need since you are using everything that you already may have in your fridge at home.

We as a household have been working on our food waste and have managed to use up all of our food in the fridge without letting majority go to waste by either cooking new things or waiting too long to use the food! It has also been saving us money so I totally recommend making a conscious effort to remember what's in your fridge if you can !

I think this can be hard a lot of the time, especially finding the balance between not buying too much food that will spoil before you can use it all

We(as a household) have been reducing food waste by reusing leftovers for our next meal in order to continuously reduce our food waste !

How can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place -- your deep knowledge of and appreciation for your surroundings?

I think it can really ground you as a person. Personally, I have anxiety so, one of my favorite things to do is sit out in the sun and just enjoy the calm environment around me. I think it helps to realize that no matter what I am safe, comfortable, and okay. It allows one to take some time away from all the stressors that are in daily life and just take some time for yourself to develop an appreciation for the world we live in. I think it would be extremely helpful for those who maybe feel out of touch with themselves to take at least 30 minutes to just relax outdoors.
