Industry
Practice the 5 R's
Recycling
I will Practice the "5 Rs" — refuse, reduce, reuse, repurpose, and recycle — to reduce my waste more than I can with just recycling alone.

Refrigerant Management

Action Track: Healing & Renewal
Go for a Daily Walk
Walkable Cities

Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
Transition to cricket based dog food
Insects are a low impact alternative to mammals and fish for protein.

REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustry Go PaperlessWhat do you want to prioritize over material 'stuff' in your own life?
Julie Loftus 4/25/2022 4:59 AMThe last three years has jolted me into a whole new perspective in my life. With the passing of four beautiful women in my life in 2019 and then the pandemic limiting socialization, I realized that my friends and family and NOT things are what is important. My spiritual health needed a reboot as well as taking the plunge and trying new things. Material goods became less and less of a priority. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustry Practice the 5 R'sWhat are some more "R's" you could add to your daily practice to reduce your waste?
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustry Recycle Everything I CanHow could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle? How does considering implementing these "R's" make you feel?
Julie Loftus 4/17/2022 5:37 PMReduce: Using less water by running dishwasher only when full and not flushing toilet at every use unless needed. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Healing & Renewal Go for a Daily WalkWhat have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?
Julie Loftus 4/15/2022 6:08 AMI have noticed that Spring has arrived in our city and that there is a revitalization of nature and people. I have enjoyed the smiles and greetings on my walks.
Litter and the poor condition of some sidewalks and roads could be addressed. That would make my walks more enjoyable. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Smaller PortionsWhile dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come from eating/serving smaller portions?
Julie Loftus 4/15/2022 6:01 AMIt can help with calorie intake. Possibly keeping your weight down if vegetables and protein are on your plate. Also, it can act as a reminder when dining out and ordering our food. -
Julie Loftus 4/15/2022 5:53 AMSubaru of Kings Automall has teamed up with TerraCycle® to help keep hard-to-recycle trash like coffee cups and snack bag wrappers out of landfills. Instead, we're returning them to the community as something useful, like a bench outside your local school. Together, Subaru retailers like us have already helped keep more than 6,000,000 pieces of hard-to-recycle waste out of local landfills. We've placed Zero Waste Boxes™ in our showroom with labels identifying specific hard-to-recycle items. Once they're filled, we ship the waste to TerraCycle to convert it into pellets for use in manufacturing recycled products. At Subaru, we feel it's our personal responsibility to care about the Earth and protect it for future
Not only am I happy to be a Subaru owner (2 to be exact) but also a customer of this dealership that is doing a good job of recycling.-

Rachel Johnson 4/14/2022 12:43 PMOne positive I noticed when I first went vegetarian...I didn't get sick as often. No colds, no flu. I felt better than I'd ever felt. So many positives. And I think its okay that some of them are selfish. What better encouragement? :)

Julie Loftus 4/10/2022 6:38 AMI started using salad plates for meals now and don't go back for seconds. I make and purchase only what I need. Sometimes I freeze the rest for a future meal to avoid any waste.
