Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transport Try Carpooling
List some of the places you frequent often (work, grocery store, natural areas). Could you choose one or two days a week to schedule driving with a friend, neighbor or co-worker to these places?

    Jade Lovio 5/26/2020 12:41 PM
When we are able to I will try and carpool with people to go to school and any other places I am able to.

What does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for such vision to become reality?

    Jade Lovio's avatar
    Jade Lovio 5/26/2020 12:36 PM
My vision of a sustainable community looks like a place where there is not much waste on the streets and being generated. Also somewhere where there aren't as many car fumes. people would need to only drive when necessary and everyone helps pick up trash and not generate as much.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Women and Girls Research Barriers to Participation and Representation
What are some of the barriers that exist to women's equal participation and/or representation in your community?

    Jade Lovio's avatar
    Jade Lovio 5/21/2020 5:12 PM
Some barriers are that they are treated differently so they cant do the same things. Also during this time with people losing their jobs it could be unequal as well.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Use Research Peatlands
Much of Indonesia's peatlands have been drained so they could be replaced with palm oil or pulp and paper plantations. How can you make choices that help to protect peatlands, even if you live far away from one?

    Jade Lovio's avatar
    Jade Lovio 5/20/2020 11:55 AM
Some ways that I can help protect peatlands is to not purchase things with palm oil or pulp and paper plantations. I can also do more research to look up alternatives to these things.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Women and Girls Research Businesses Owned by Women, POC, or Immigrants
Globally, women typically invest a higher proportion of their earnings in their families and communities than men. What have you done in the past to support women-owned businesses? How can you better support communities by supporting women?

    Jade Lovio's avatar
    Jade Lovio 5/18/2020 7:29 AM
In the past, I have tried and purchased things from women-owned businesses when I am able to. I can better support communities by supporting women by researching about the store before I buy anything. Also, I can tell others about what some good business to buy things from.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

What concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.

    Jade Lovio's avatar
    Jade Lovio 5/15/2020 9:23 AM
What concerns me most is that we seem to be under a time span before everything gets too bad and most people dont realize this. Also, there are so many things that are bad for the environment that we have intergraded into our lives that it would be really hard to switch. The last thing is how the most convenient things are bad for the planet and some people dont want to do the extra work to help.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Buildings and Cities Research Heat Pumps
Why is taking action on climate change important to you? Why do you care?

    Jade Lovio's avatar
    Jade Lovio 5/14/2020 4:53 PM
Taking action on climate change is important to me because everyone lives in the world and if everyone can do a little then it will really help. I care because most people will think someone else will do something and nobody ends up doing anything so if I do something to help with climate change I feel better about whatever I'm doing.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Land Use Learn about Temperate Forests
As you learn more about the scope and seriousness of the environmental challenges we face, what impact does that have on your thinking and actions? What are the parts that feel overwhelming? What parts help you feel hopeful?

    Jade Lovio's avatar
    Jade Lovio 5/13/2020 8:33 AM
While learning more about the seriousness of the environment it impacts me to want to do something about it. I think actually learning for yourself is more helpful than someone telling you something because you usually dont want to listen to them. Some parts that feel overwhelming is how it will be hard to go back on what we have done unless we change soon. We are now getting pressured by time to change to help the earth. Some parts that feel hopeful is that there are so many things you can do personally to help and there are already things being done about climate change.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Transport Research and Consider Switching to a Hybrid or Electric Vehicle
Reducing (or eliminating) exhaust emissions and improving public health are two benefits of green vehicles. What other motivators inspire you to consider switching to a more fuel-efficient vehicle?

    Jade Lovio's avatar
    Jade Lovio 5/12/2020 9:27 AM
When I get older I think switching to a more fuel-efficient vehicle is something I would want to do. There are many options and it really helps with the environment. Some things that inspire me to consider switching is that you would use less gas and you would feel better about driving every day.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

How do you address your own feelings of concern, fear or despair about climate change?

    Jade Lovio's avatar
    Jade Lovio 5/11/2020 11:41 AM
Some ways to address your feeling about climate change is to talk about it to others and to take action by doing things like picking up trash and not putting out as much carbon emissions.
