I asked the restaurant I work at if they measure their carbon footprint, to which they said no. It makes sense as that isn't necessarily a main focus for a company focused on profit, however I encouraged them to look into it. I don't really feel like I have the power to hold an entire business accountable for something I have no expertise in.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Industry Research Cement Alternatives
Concrete is a good example of a material that most of us encounter every day, but its carbon footprint may not be obvious. What other everyday materials might have a large carbon footprint? How can you find out more?

Aluminium, brick, and steel. You can find out more by researching "what building materials release the most carbon?"
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Action Track: Healing & Renewal More Fruits And Veggies
How does eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat positively affect yourself, other people, and our planet?

I ate some salad and an apple this morning which made me feel a lot more energized than a bacon egg and cheese. It positively impacts our planet by reducing animal farming with high methane release.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Composting
Producing food that goes uneaten squanders many resources—seeds, water, energy, land, fertilizer, hours of labor, financial capital. Which of these kinds of waste most motivates you to change your behavior regarding food waste? Why?

    ezra mcnaughton 5/22/2023 9:09 AM
using food waste to generate energy motivates me to compost, as it is a source of renewable energy
