Action Track: Building Resilience
Restore Wetlands
Coastal Wetland Restoration
I will volunteer 60 hours with a wetland restoration project in my region.
Action Track: Healing & Renewal
Explore My Area
Sometimes protecting nature requires feeling connected to nature. I will invest 20 minutes in exploring and appreciating a natural area in my region, whether a forest, wetland, coastal area, or somewhere else.
Action Track: Healing & Renewal
Eat Mindfully
I will eat all of my meals without distractions, e.g., phone, computer, TV, or newspaper.
Action Track: Healing & Renewal
Go for a Daily Walk
Walkable Cities
I will take a walk for 30 minutes each day and take note of the infrastructure that makes walking more or less enjoyable, accessible, and possible.
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
Learn the Truth About Expiration Dates
Reduced Food Waste
I will spend at least 30 minutes learning how to differentiate between sell by, use by, and best by dates.
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
Support Local Food Systems
Plant-Rich Diets
I will source 25 percent of my food from local producers each day. This could include signing up for a local CSA, buying from a farmer's market, visiting a food co-op, foraging with a local group, or growing my own ingredients.
Transportation
Use Muscle Power
Multiple Transportation Solutions
I will cut my car trip mileage by only taking necessary trips, and I will only use muscle-powered transportation for all other trips.
Transportation
Conduct Virtual Meetings
Telepresence
I will encourage my office to hold meetings virtually whenever possible instead of requiring travel.

REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Healing & Renewal Go for a Daily WalkWhat have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?
Laura Mejia 4/24/2023 10:46 AMMy family and I try making it a habit to walk to our local park for fun, but, because we have jobs/school it can be hard to make the time to spend with one another. Luckily, we had time to do a walk this past weekend. When walking to the park I couldn't help but notice/hear the noise from the busy street, some have pedestrian crossing signs but it can still be dangerous getting to the park. It might take up to 10min before a car will stop for you or you forcefully have to start walking for them to notice you. I think it might be one of the reasons why some people choose to go to the park by car or not at all. If it was more approachable more people would go. Once you reach the park, you no longer hear the traffic noise, and you find yourself at a lake with ducks, rabbits, and squirrels :). it's a nice park but due to the danger of getting there, it does pervent people from going. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Healing & Renewal Eat MindfullyMindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How does your eating experience differ when practicing mindfulness?
Laura Mejia 4/11/2023 9:13 PMWith our obsession with technology, it was nice having a meal with no noise and distractions. It allowed me to have some peace to end the day.-
Keila Kimura 4/13/2023 1:22 PMHi Laura!
At home, my partner and I typically eat meals together and routinely watch something at the same time. I noticed that when we eat together without those distractions, we can connect with other people less superficially. I also noticed that I was being conscious of what I was eating and pay attention to my body cues regarding food portions rather than just with my eyes. I also felt it was very refreshing! -
Karena Caro 4/12/2023 7:55 PMHi Laura! I also found it very peaceful eating my meals with no distractions today. I hope to continue incorporating mindful eating frequently. Next time I think I will sit and eat outside to have a different experience.
