REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and Education Research Barriers to Participation and RepresentationWhat are some of the barriers that exist to women's equal participation and/or representation in your community?
Liuba Miranosava 4/14/2021 6:34 AMIn college, my French capstone was on the women of Western Africa where I focused a lot on women's equal participation in business.

REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustry Calculate the carbon footprint of my householdAfter you determined your carbon footprint, did you see what different choices you can make in order to reduce it?
Liuba Miranosava 4/08/2021 6:10 AMIn times of COVID, I feel like my carbon footprint hasn't been as bad since I haven't been traveling as often. However, what I have done a lot more is online shopping, which often comes with boxes upon boxes of packaging. I will have to look at online vendors that use sustainable packaging, such as Green Chef or Farmer's Dog. They use a special biodegradable Styrofoam material. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCoastal, Ocean, and Engineered Sinks Smart Seafood ChoicesMany states and countries have advisories on eating fish. Find out what is advised for your region. Do you think your diet choices fall within these guidelines? What steps do you need to take to make sure that they do?
Liuba Miranosava 4/08/2021 6:09 AMMy main go to in terms of fish is tuna, which I know is often not sustainably sourced. I will make more of an effort to look at the packaging on the cans before buying.
My primary consumption of fish is through sushi, and the source of the fish is more difficult to trace when eating out. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Sinks Buy BambooAre bamboo alternatives readily available in your community? If not, what are other sustainable alternatives?
Liuba Miranosava 4/08/2021 6:07 AMBamboo alternatives are pretty readily available. While there's still not a lot of variety in the local grocery store, these products can easily be found online. I've recently invested in a bamboo toothbrush and bamboo toilet paper. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Sinks Forest-Friendly Foods 2How difficult or easy was it to change your diet?
Liuba Miranosava 4/08/2021 6:06 AMI didn't realize how omnipresent palm oil is in foods. I also didn't realize that it's often disguised under other names in ingredient lists, so it's especially difficult to find products that don't have it. I think the best approach is to make a list of products that don't have it and only buy from that list. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Sinks Learn More about SilvopastureHad you heard of the term "silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?
Liuba Miranosava 4/08/2021 6:05 AMI have never heard of the term "silvopasture" before, but it's quite a fascinating concept.
I think the biggest advantage is the symbiotic relationship that is capitalized upon both for animals and trees. The animals are free-range and get a healthy pasture to graze on, while the trees benefit from this grazing. There's no extra cost to the farmers either and just helps grow more trees. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Keep Track of Wasted FoodAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money?
Liuba Miranosava 4/02/2021 5:38 AMI'd rather use that money on better quality food and for other health-related consumption choices.
