REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Use Buy BambooAre bamboo alternatives readily available in your community? If not, what are other sustainable alternatives?
Cyndi Moolekamp 5/09/2020 3:42 AMSomething I learned: Bamboo is not a tree, but a type of grass. It grows super fast (some as fast as a couple of feet a day!) and doesn't require much water or care. I bought for the first time, a reuseable personal care item made from bamboo! It helped that it was on sale, but I'm hoping I'll like it and can continue to research and buy more products made from bamboo. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterials Go PaperlessWhat do you want to prioritize over material 'stuff' in your own life?
Cyndi Moolekamp 5/04/2020 3:41 PMNow I just wish I could stop those annoying weekly automatic mailers that come with all the coupons and advertisements. Does anyone know how to stop them from coming? -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood CompostingProducing food that goes uneaten squanders many resources—seeds, water, energy, land, fertilizer, hours of labor, financial capital. Which of these kinds of waste most motivates you to change your behavior regarding food waste? Why?
Cyndi Moolekamp 4/27/2020 5:30 AMI grow a garden and so it was natural to want a compost bin. I had one growing up and got to see directly how our unused peels and veggie skins helped produce more wonderful things in the garden. This challenge finally helped me start my own!-
Megan Meyer 5/01/2020 12:09 AMSo nice to see you keeping your hands in the soil! Harley's Ecochallenge has been a great way for all of us to ramp up what each of us can do to reduce our carbon footprint!

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Support Local Food SystemsDependable fresh food, supporting local farmers and building resilient communities are just a few benefits of local food systems. Which of these (or other) advantages inspire you the most?
Cyndi Moolekamp 4/21/2020 6:59 PMI've been getting some of my herbs and veggies from my own garden. I've been supporting a friend's local mini farm and getting eggs from them. This page and challenge has inspired me to get more of my food from these sources. -
Cyndi Moolekamp 4/19/2020 2:57 PMI've always tried to protect the Earth. But now, more than ever, being in home all day for the Corona Virus Pandemic, I feel sort of helpless and restless. I want to channel my energy to help bring about more good change in the world. Happy to be a part of this group through the Unitarian Church.
