REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Improve a Bus StopHow can you advocate for transportation systems which minimize environmental impact while also meeting human needs?
Clara Nennemann 4/30/2022 5:38 PMI think ensuring that we have good public transit is absolutely key to reduce the environmental impact of transportation. In Quebec, transportation is one of the biggest contributors to our carbon emissions. In order to help switch to the more ecological public transit and reduce these emissions, I think we need to create a culture of public transit. In North America, cars, particularly unecological ones, tend to be viewed as status symbols. If we can boast about taking public transit and start a cultural shift towards public transit, while simultaneously advocating for the necessary infrastructure, we would be able to considerably reduce emissions.-

REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Sinks Contact your Elected OfficialsDo you have any personal connections to a farm or farmland? If so, what are they? What feelings are evoked for you when thinking about declining farmland?
Clara Nennemann 4/27/2022 5:50 PMI have no real personal connection to farmland, however, my family has always tended to a small vegetable patch in our garden. I worry that with the decline in farmland, we will no longer be able to provide food for our growing population. Furthermore, the local decline of farmland means increased dependency on foreign production, which, as the war in Ukraine has shown, may be more fragile than we think. -
Clara Nennemann 4/20/2022 4:48 PMFor my daily challenge, I am tending to a garden. I was pretty glad I had not yet planted any seeds outdoors when the snow came the other day! -
Clara Nennemann 4/10/2022 2:44 PMFor my daily challenge, I am tending to a garden, and I started digging it up today. Basically, you turn over the soil to oxygenate it and loosen it up. It's a lot of work, but I was glad to be able to enjoy the wonderful weather today! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Healing & Renewal Tend A GardenHave you ever had a significant experience in nature that altered your perspective or focus? If so, please describe it.
Clara Nennemann 4/06/2022 8:56 AMWhen I was visiting British Columbia one year, I was shocked by the amount of clear cutting there was. It was unbelievable to think that 100 year old trees where being cut down to be transformed into pulp and paper. It really made me realize what an effect my choices as a consumer were having on the environment. Though previously I had always been aware of deforestation and the pulp and paper industry, seeing the scared landscape, the brown and clear cut slopes, made feel how real and urgent this issue was. -
Clara Nennemann 4/04/2022 3:16 PMI chose tending to a garden as my daily action, and so far I've been really enjoying the experience! It's really great to spend some time outside not thinking about anything else while simultaneously doing something beneficial for the environment.
