REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Generation Watch a Video about Methane DigestersWhat does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for such vision to become reality?
Mattie Palme 5/26/2020 6:12 AMPeople would be careful with their resources and not waste them, such as electricity or food. People should try to learn more about better energy sources and also try to eat less meat. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWomen and Girls Research Barriers to Participation and RepresentationWhat are some of the barriers that exist to women's equal participation and/or representation in your community?
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Generation Learn More about Wave and Tidal EnergyWhat did you learn about wave and tidal energy? How do they compare to other energy sources?
Mattie Palme 5/21/2020 5:35 AMThere are different types of tidal energy, such as tidal streams, barrages, and lagoons. Tidal energy is easier to predict that solar or wind energy, but it affects aquatic life around it. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Use Research PeatlandsMuch of Indonesia's peatlands have been drained so they could be replaced with palm oil or pulp and paper plantations. How can you make choices that help to protect peatlands, even if you live far away from one?
Mattie Palme 5/20/2020 5:23 AMI could try to reduce the amount of palm oil in my diet so that less palm oil has to be taken. I could also try to use paper more efficiently, so that I use less of it and less has to be made. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Learn More about Regenerative AgricultureClean air, clean water and healthy food are just three reasons to care about regenerative agriculture. What are some other reasons? How could/does regenerative agriculture positively impact you and your community?
Mattie Palme 5/19/2020 8:25 PMOverall, regenerative agriculture is helping to save the planet we live on. In my community, the air could be cleaner, which would be very positive. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Support Nutrient ManagementHow does environmental quality influence your sense of community?
Mattie Palme 5/18/2020 7:37 AMThere are people who are working to help the environment and they also support others who do the same. It is cool that there are so many farms around me that don't use chemcials. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood CompostingProducing food that goes uneaten squanders many resources—seeds, water, energy, land, fertilizer, hours of labor, financial capital. Which of these kinds of waste most motivates you to change your behavior regarding food waste? Why?
Mattie Palme 5/18/2020 7:22 AMLots of these are reasons to waste less food. There is only a limited amount of land on earth, so I think that is very important to save. Also water is needed in lots of places, so by not wasting food we can use less water. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterials Share Bioplastic Disposal TipsWhat concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.
Mattie Palme 5/15/2020 9:19 AMI am concerned with how we keep destroying the Earth even though we know what we are doing and how it is being affected. On a global level we are constantly manufacturing items and shipping them across the world, which creates a lot of pollution. On a local level we drive a lot instead of finding another way to get places. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterials Properly Dispose of RefrigerantsHow do you address your own feelings of concern, fear or despair about climate change?
Mattie Palme 5/13/2020 11:47 AMI try to do something about it to help the earth and know that I am doing my part. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Use Learn about Temperate ForestsAs you learn more about the scope and seriousness of the environmental challenges we face, what impact does that have on your thinking and actions? What are the parts that feel overwhelming? What parts help you feel hopeful?
Mattie Palme 5/13/2020 6:25 AMI want to start changing my actions to help the earth. I feel hopeful that there are more and more people learning about the environment, and as technology advances we are finding new and better ways to save the earth.
