Watch a Video about Methane Digesters
Methane Digesters

Walkable Cities
I will take a walk for 10 minutes each day and take note of the infrastructure that makes walking more or less enjoyable, accessible, and possible.
Food
Reduce Animal Products
Plant-Rich Diets
I will enjoy 1 meatless or vegan meal(s) each day of the challenge.
Transport
Try Carpooling
Carpooling
I will commute by carpool 20 mile(s) per day and avoid sending up to (___) lbs of CO2 into Earth's atmosphere.
Land Use
Plant Trees
Temperate Forest Restoration
I will plant 1 tree(s) in my community, public parks, or backyard.
Food
Smaller Portions
Reduced Food Waste
I will use smaller plates and/or serve smaller portions when dishing out food.

Learn More about Micro Wind
Micro Wind Turbines
I will spend at least 30 minutes learning more about the energy generation potential of micro wind.

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Smaller PortionsWhile dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come from eating/serving smaller portions?
Ingrid Pehrson 5/22/2020 7:16 AMBenefits that come from eating/serving smaller portions of food is less food waste, more leftovers for later, and more people can eat. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Use Plant TreesHow is planting trees good for your mental, physical, and spiritual health?
Ingrid Pehrson 5/21/2020 10:15 AMTrees are good for my metal health because nature makes me happy. Trees are good for my physical health because trees to make oxygen so I can breathe and live. Lastly, trees are good for my spiritual health because they make me grateful for trees, and they provide a lot for humans. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransport Try CarpoolingList some of the places you frequent often (work, grocery store, natural areas). Could you choose one or two days a week to schedule driving with a friend, neighbor or co-worker to these places?
Ingrid Pehrson 5/20/2020 9:13 AMPlaces I frequently go is school, sports practices, and friends houses. I can schedule carpooling with a friend one or two days a week, to get to these places. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our bodies, our planet, and other people?
Ingrid Pehrson 5/19/2020 8:00 AMI think richer countries eat more meat then people in other countries because we can afford protein rich food, like meat. Eating more meat effects the plant negatively because meat production is creating pollution through fossil fuel usage, animal methane, effluent waste, and water and land consumption. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildings and Cities Go for a Daily WalkWhat have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?
Ingrid Pehrson 5/18/2020 7:58 AMOn my walks I have notice a lot of plant life since summer is beginning and a lot of houses and cars. I have enjoyed viewing the city skyline at the end of my walk because its pretty especially the mountains in the background. Infrastructure changes that would make my walks more enjoyable is less huge houses that block the view. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Generation Watch a Video about Methane DigestersWhat does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for such vision to become reality?
Ingrid Pehrson 5/15/2020 10:47 AMA sustainable community looks like a community continuing into the future without diminishing the land, water, air, and natural resources that support them. One solution to this problem is we could install solar panels on all buildings. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWomen and Girls Learn about the Need for Family PlanningWhat did you learn about the need for family planning? How do the needs of different people in different places compare to each other?
Ingrid Pehrson 5/13/2020 8:02 AMI learned that family planning is essential for reducing overpopulation and reduces the amount of children growing up in poverty. The needs of wealthier people and people living in poverty are different because wealthier families have access to education and reproductive health care, where as poorer people don't. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Use Research PeatlandsMuch of Indonesia's peatlands have been drained so they could be replaced with palm oil or pulp and paper plantations. How can you make choices that help to protect peatlands, even if you live far away from one?
Ingrid Pehrson 5/12/2020 8:33 AMI can help protect peatlands by not eating foods that contain palm oil, these include ice cream, chocolate and Pringles instead I can eat cookies and ice cream that doesn't contain palm oil. I can also dry my hands with a towel instead of paper, to reduce my waste.
