    Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
How does eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat positively affect yourself, other people, and our planet?

It is very important that we increase intake of fruits and vegetables due to the vitamins and minerals they contain. When we reduce our meat intake we help ourselves and our planet as well. Eating a diet heavy in meat can lead to obesity heart disease, cancer and other illnesses . In addition to this, cows pigs and sheep are  the biggest emitter of greenhouse gases contributing to global warming.

Mindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How does your eating experience differ when practicing mindfulness?

Mindful eating is something we should all practice. As a working adult I'm guilty of eating on the go, or distracting myself with my phone while eating. I noticed that when I do this I tend to  overeat because I don't see what I'm eating, and how fast I eat it. I started  doing mindful eating only on the weekends since its hard to practice at work. I noticed that I get fuller way faster and I enjoy my food more than when eating on the go.

How does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?

Ever since  I do my grocery shopping by myself I have been confused on the " Use by, sell by, best  by" After reading about the differences I learned that the Use by and best by date is directed to the consumer. These dates are recommended to consumers for the to consumption of the product before a certain date for best quality and health reasons. The sell by is directed to the seller for recommended date to sella product. The product is still safe to consume after the sell by date for a few more days.

When family planning focuses on healthcare provision and meeting the expressed needs of women, it results in empowerment, equality, and well-being, and the benefits to the planet are side effects. Why is family planning an important civil rights consideration?

I believe that everyone should have access to safe family planning because is a human right. women and men should have the right to decide if they want to have kids, when or if they want to have kids at all. In addition to this, family planning  is a key factor in reducing poverty. Many underdeveloped countries don't have access to free family planning clinics. This threatens their ability to build a better future for themselves, their families and their communities. Governments should develop policies offering family  programs for low income families.

Many states and countries have advisories on eating fish. Find out what is advised for your region. Do you think your diet choices fall within these guidelines? What steps do you need to take to make sure that they do?

In NJ is advised to eat certain fish species once a month. Striped bass is one of them and is recommended to eat once a month. I love seafood, my family and I probably eat seafood once a week. Tilapia, Sea bass and Salmon are our favorite. Fortunately there is no restriction for the intake of these species. It never crossed my mind to check the health advisories for eating fish, but now that I know there is one I will check to make sure my diet falls under the guidelines.

    Hello all,
This is Juan Perez, I used to live in NY and I currently live in NJ. I started recycling the trash of my house many years ago back in NY. I noticed that many people here in NJ don't recycle, but I still do. About a year ago I bought a clothe shopping for my grocery shopping. This way I avoid using plastic bags, one of the culprits that causes pollution in our ocean. I'm hoping to implement more changes in my daily routine to help our planet.
