Action Track: Healing & Renewal
Go for a Daily Walk
Walkable Cities
I will take a walk for 10 minutes each day and take note of the infrastructure that makes walking more or less enjoyable, accessible, and possible.
Industry
Learn About & Practice Sustainable Fashion
Multiple Industry Solutions
I will learn about sustainable fashion and begin trying to practice it in my own life.
Action Track: Healing & Renewal
More Fruits And Veggies
I will eat a heart healthy diet by adding 4 cups of fruits and vegetables each day to achieve at least 4 cups per day.
Action Track: Building Resilience
Support Local Food Systems
Plant-Rich Diets
I will source 20 percent of my food from local producers each day. This could include signing up for a local CSA, buying from a farmer's market, visiting a food co-op, foraging with a local group, or growing my own ingredients.
Land Sinks
Explore My Area
Sometimes protecting nature requires feeling connected to nature. I will invest 60 minutes in exploring and appreciating a natural area in my region, whether a forest, wetland, coastal area, or somewhere else.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

PeriSeed PeriSeed 6/18/2022 8:23 PMWhile I was out with my family today, I got a pattern for a nice sundress at the fabric store. I went on a walk around my neighborhood with my mom in the evening. The weather today was better than it was the other day, and my neighborhood is leaving a few clover patches around instead of destroying them! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Healing & Renewal Go for a Daily WalkWhat have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?
PeriSeed PeriSeed 6/17/2022 7:50 PMDespite the humidity, walking around my neighborhood with my dad was fun. Many spiders were enjoying the weather. So many wolf spiders! -
PeriSeed PeriSeed 6/17/2022 7:40 PMI ate lettuce, squash pie, spinach, and strawberries today. Eating lots of fruits and veggies makes me feel energetic. -
PeriSeed PeriSeed 6/17/2022 12:30 PMI ate a salad made from lettuce in my garden today, and I made my parents salads out of the lettuce. It was delicious red sails lettuce! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustry Learn About & Practice Sustainable FashionHow can you express your personality, creativity, and values in ways that don't require fast fashion or buying more clothes and accessories?
PeriSeed PeriSeed 6/16/2022 2:35 PMYou can ask your friends and family members if they have any clothes or accessories they can lend you. You can also find new ways to use the clothes and accessories you already have. -
PeriSeed PeriSeed 6/16/2022 11:45 AMInstead of walking, I took a short run around my fairly wooded, suburban neighborhood today. The heat wave is awful; it’s over 90 degrees Fahrenheit out there! Despite the intense heat, it’s a beautiful day. The leaves reflect the sunlight in a stunning way, the grass is very green from the abundant rain, and the birds are singing. Many of my neighbors use pesticides on their lawns. Because of this, the bees love my yard instead of their yards! My yard has many bees pollinating the clover patches. I love seeing plenty of insects in my yard. Some insects I’ve been seeing more lately are bumblebees, honey bees, wasps, fireflies, and grasshoppers. -
PeriSeed PeriSeed 6/15/2022 8:11 PMI have researched sustainable fashion for 37 minutes so far. I had some prior knowledge, but I definitely feel that I know more about the topic. While I love thrifting, it also has downsides. If the clothing is cheaply made, chemicals from the clothing can leech into your skin. There’s also the problem of extremely torn down clothing donations for thrift stores. Bad clothing is not good enough to sell, and nobody will buy low quality clothes. This issue is, once again, rooted in the fast fashion industry. The low quality clothing produced by the industry is donated to thrift stores by people who will buy more low quality clothing after their donation. There are a few cases where clothing will break down after a few days! This topic truly fascinates me, and I will, hopefully, research it more tomorrow.
