Practice the 5 R's

Recycling

I will Practice the "5 Rs" — refuse, reduce, reuse, repurpose, and recycle — to reduce my waste more than I can with just recycling alone.

Recycle Everything I Can

Recycling

Contamination prevents what is recyclable from being recycled. I will research and recycle all materials that are accepted by local haulers or drop stations in my community, making sure to not contaminate recyclables with non-recyclables.

Conduct Virtual Meetings

Telepresence

I will encourage my office to hold meetings virtually whenever possible instead of requiring travel.

Participant Feed

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.

Re-purposing things in ways that could be really helpful in your daily life. Having re-usable things in our daily lives (water bottles, utensils, masks, etc). Buying recyclable things in our daily lives (if necessary.)
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Industry Recycle Everything I Can
How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle? How does considering implementing these "R's" make you feel?

You could buy less of anything that has plastic or non-recyclable things to it. You could buy more reusable things like water-bottles, boxes, (and especially during COVID) masks. Refuse to use/buy things that aren't reusable or recyclable. Repair anything that is fixable, and not throw it. You could re-purpose things instead of trashing it.

Why do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our bodies, our planet, and other people?

In richer countries, people don't have to worry too much about money. They can afford their mandatory things in life and still have more money. This means that they have money to spend on things that aren't necessities. This causes more unhealthy people in the U.S and other countries. The production of meat also pollutes the environment.
