  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Composting
Producing food that goes uneaten squanders many resources—seeds, water, energy, land, fertilizer, hours of labor, financial capital. Which of these kinds of waste most motivates you to change your behavior regarding food waste? Why?

    Luke Powchak 12/10/2020 1:35 PM
Making sure that the food scraps are not wasted and knowing that im giving them back to the earth.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Land Sinks Learn More about Silvopasture
Had you heard of the term "silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?

    Luke Powchak's avatar
    Luke Powchak 12/08/2020 11:38 AM
I did not here of this term before now. I think the biggest advantage is that it helps every one not just the cow or the farmer but also the environment.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Industry Learn about the impact of old refrigerants
Why are old refrigerant gases so harmful to our environment?

    Luke Powchak's avatar
    Luke Powchak 12/08/2020 8:23 AM
They are made of chemicals that destroy our ozone layer and it heats up the atmosphere 1,000 of times faster then carbon dioxide.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Electricity Watch a Video about Methane Digesters
What does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for such vision to become reality?

    Luke Powchak's avatar
    Luke Powchak 12/04/2020 1:17 PM
My vision for a sustainable community is everyone using a solar panel. I would need every ne in my community to switch to solar power
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

    Luke Powchak 12/03/2020 7:26 AM
People need family planning so they can make sure they bring a child into this world the way they want to and not on accident. Or family planning can help you If you don't want to have a baby.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Land Sinks Learn about Temperate Forests
As you learn more about the scope and seriousness of the environmental challenges we face, what impact does that have on your thinking and actions? What are the parts that feel overwhelming? What parts help you feel hopeful?

    Luke Powchak's avatar
    Luke Powchak 12/02/2020 12:22 PM
I have know most of these things for a long time but I didn't know about carbon sinks and I think its pretty cool how those work. Knowing how much needs to be done to fix the environment.  Know that their are people that specialize in helping the environment so they can tell us how to help.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Sinks Research Peatlands
Much of Indonesia's peatlands have been drained so they could be replaced with palm oil or pulp and paper plantations. How can you make choices that help to protect peatlands, even if you live far away from one?

    Luke Powchak's avatar
    Luke Powchak 12/01/2020 4:11 PM
I can buy product that don't support the destruction of peat lands.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

What concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.

    Luke Powchak's avatar
    Luke Powchak 12/01/2020 1:29 PM
I think the amount of co2 we are putting in the atmosphere is the most concerning. We are literally killing our planet.  That makes me think that humans are like parasites. The biggest thing that worries me about local wellness is how dirty our river looks in the summer. It makes me not want to take advantage of our local  water sources for anything.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Health and Education Research Barriers to Participation and Representation
What are some of the barriers that exist to women's equal participation and/or representation in your community?

    Luke Powchak's avatar
    Luke Powchak 11/30/2020 5:01 PM
One barrier is that there is not equal pay and opportunities for women. Women are just less valued in a community and it is horrific.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
