Dominic Raymond 12/02/2020 2:52 PMI believe this Ecochallenge was very nice and had it's place in the sustainability class. It kind of forced us to do our part in being more aware of what we are doing each day. I think this challenge got us all out of our confort zone since we wouldn't have done these actions if hadn't been exposed to them. This is definitely something I could recommend doing with other classes even if they aren't related to sustainability. For this challenge, I was particularly happy with my reduction in pollution by either using my bike as a main source of transportation or even lowering my electricity usage. This has really helped me see for myself how great of a change I can make by only following a few small steps. I will surely continue some of these actions even without the challenge when this course ends. -
Dominic Raymond 11/24/2020 9:35 AMBy going around the house, I noticed multiple lightbulbs were not LED so, I decided to go to the store and buy some and replace every single one of them so that it would consume less electricity. This will not only save money, but also help the environnement. -
Dominic Raymond 11/11/2020 8:32 AMI have decided to go meatless for 2 meals everyday out of 3. The only meal I eat meat in now is supper now. I used to eat a lot of mest mostly because of sports and the daily efforts I had to do, but since we are all stuck inside, I don't need as much of this energy. -
Dominic Raymond 11/03/2020 1:01 PMSince there is a bus stop at the end of my street and that I use it very often, I have decided i would clean it up a little. This morning, i went to the stop and picked up all the papers and different trash laying around it, cleaned the small stains on the glass and cut a few branchs from the bushes which were blocking the stop view from behind it. This will greatly facilitate the driver's job to see if any passengers are waiting for the bus. -
Dominic Raymond 10/17/2020 2:31 PMaround the garage, I started installing with the help of my dad some solar panels to charge some pieces of equipment he uses for his company. Instead of having them charge all day in the wall plug, he will now plug them in batteries powered by these solar panels. -
Dominic Raymond 10/15/2020 3:02 PMWith all the compost we produce at home, we started throwing it into a compost bin in our backyard a few years ago. With the years, it has growed a lot, so we decided to take a part and distribute it in the plants. Compost helps the plants to grow, and it helped us get rid of some extra instead of throwing it out. -
Dominic Raymond 10/11/2020 9:44 PMI have now cut all transportation methods that use gas for more than a week to replace them with my bike. I have had a minimum of 20km per day to travel, but because sports are cancelled due to covid, I decided to exercice while minimizing the pollution I used to produce. This has been really good for my personal health, and has saved approximately 35 pounds of co2 every day.
