Stay on the Ground
Telepresence, High-Speed Rail
Instead of traveling by plane, I will find an alternative way to accomplish the goals of an upcoming trip (i.e. telepresence, vacation locally).
Transportation
Try Carpooling
Carpooling
I will commute by carpool 6 mile(s) per day and avoid sending up to (___) lbs of CO2 into Earth's atmosphere.
Transportation
Go for a Daily Walk
Walkable Cities
I will take a walk for 15 minutes each day and take note of the infrastructure that makes walking more or less enjoyable, accessible, and possible.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

Alaina Sanders 11/09/2022 11:55 PMThis challenge helped me build better habits that I could do on a daily bases to limit my own C02 footprint. As I continued to participate, I realized that the hardest part was just starting, after that then it was mainly about holding myself accountable. My words of encouragement for future tasks are trying not to start off perfect but to aim for trying to be consistent. -
Alaina Sanders 11/09/2022 6:05 PMI feel relieved that the eco-challenge is coming to an end and also motivated to see how long I can keep up the challenge on my own. I had trouble starting the challenge and trying to pick up a more eco-friendly habit on a daily bases.-
Ashley Hogue 11/09/2022 10:33 PMIt is really difficult building new habits, but hopefully some of the challenges can lead to more sustainable practices that we can stick with overtime! -
Liza Gonikberg 11/09/2022 7:32 PMHi Alaina! I totally get you, I feel the same way about the eco-challenge. -
Chase Crawford 11/09/2022 7:04 PMThats awesome Alaina, I think if you can implement your new practices long term, it will just become second nature to you, congrats on getting this far though!

REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Stay on the GroundWhat was your process like for restructuring your trip? How can you avoid more air travel in the future?
Alaina Sanders 11/08/2022 4:56 PMI've had serval zoom meetings instead of in-person classes as well as taking public transportation to get to school. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Try CarpoolingList some of the places you frequent often (work, grocery store, natural areas). Could you choose one or two days a week to schedule driving with a friend, neighbor or co-worker to these places?
Alaina Sanders 11/08/2022 4:53 PMMy friend and I wanted to try a new restaurant and we usually meet there separately because she takes a while to get ready, however, this time I spent more time planning our outing so it could work for both of us. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Go for a Daily WalkWhat have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?
Alaina Sanders 11/08/2022 4:51 PMI chose to walk to all my classes today and skateboard to places I wanted to eat at. It was a challenge because I was feeling sleepy, but it was a nice exercise.
