REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Sinks Learn More about SilvopastureHad you heard of the term "silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?
Annabelle Singleton 12/08/2020 8:56 AMI had not heard of silvopasture before this, and now after learning more about it I think the biggest advantage is the ways it can help combat climate change. However I still have a desire to learn more about this, specifically learn more about how silvopasture can reduce methane emissions from livestock as that is very interesting to me. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustry Learn about the impact of old refrigerantsWhy are old refrigerant gases so harmful to our environment?
Annabelle Singleton 12/07/2020 4:15 PMThey heavily contribute to ozone layer depletion and global warming. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and Education Learn about the Need for Family PlanningWhat did you learn about the need for family planning? How do the needs of different people in different places compare to each other?
Annabelle Singleton 12/02/2020 9:45 AMI feel like I was pretty educated before about how badly we need to give people better access to family planning, but I learned more about how people are actually going about getting more people access. I think there are very drastic differences around the world in regards to access to sexual education, contraceptives, family planning resources, and reproductive rights, so the needs of different places are also very different depending on what the current situation in the place is like. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Sinks Learn about Temperate ForestsAs you learn more about the scope and seriousness of the environmental challenges we face, what impact does that have on your thinking and actions? What are the parts that feel overwhelming? What parts help you feel hopeful?
Annabelle Singleton 12/02/2020 9:12 AMAs I continue to educate myself about the environmental challenges facing the world, it makes me want to keep learning more and learning about more possible solutions. It can sometimes feel overwhelming to me because of how wide scale these issues are, and sometimes it feels overwhelming because it feels like I as an individual can not do anything to help. Hearing about the changes happening now to help, and learning more about possible solutions makes me feel hopeful. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Sinks Research PeatlandsMuch of Indonesia's peatlands have been drained so they could be replaced with palm oil or pulp and paper plantations. How can you make choices that help to protect peatlands, even if you live far away from one?
Annabelle Singleton 12/01/2020 8:58 AMYou can choose not to support companies that take part in clearing away peatland in order to farm or produce goods, and also work to avoid palm oil whenever possible. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and Education Research Barriers to Participation and RepresentationWhat are some of the barriers that exist to women's equal participation and/or representation in your community?
Annabelle Singleton 11/30/2020 6:50 AMIn our community I would say some of the largest barriers facing women are the lack of equal pay, high sexual assault rates, low access to proper sex education/birth control and many other problems. -

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land Use Learn the Truth About Expiration DatesHow does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?
Annabelle Singleton 11/23/2020 7:56 AMI will definitely pay more attention to which kind of expiration date I am looking at, and will probably feel safe consuming food a little longer after it has passed that date. I didn't realize before how subjective those dates were, and now I will definitely feel more comfortable eating the foods after its ¨expiration date¨ has passed. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Watch a Video about Methane DigestersWhat does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for such vision to become reality?
Annabelle Singleton 11/22/2020 10:53 AMMy vision of a sustainable community is very diverse and I picture a lot of different things when I hear that. I think overall I just picture a community running mostly or totally on renewable energy, and functioning well with the community supporting everyone within.
