Sarah Slade 4/30/2023 9:14 AMTravel Update: Don't get takeout boxes for something unless you really are going to eat it.
Even though it was a paper takeout box by taking it to go I now lack a compost bin to throw the uneaten scraps into. The restaurant would likely have had a compost bin in accordance with state law. (rewind-undo) -
Sarah Slade 4/29/2023 9:03 AMI'm traveling this weekend and it really does make zero waste eating pretty tough but we can bring snacks from home like carrots, celery, nuts, breads-- all zero waste options. Going out to eat I try to choose places with minimal packaging if were getting something to go but that can be tricky like when you ask for jalapenos on your sandwich and they put them on the side in a single use plastic container (sigh- rewind, never mind). But we brought our own water bottles and thermoses for coffee and cutlery so we can avoid the plastic/bioplastic takeout ware and are keeping our eyes open for cool stuff. Maybe we will learn a new sustainable living trick on this trip. -
