REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Generation Watch a Video about Methane DigestersWhat does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for such vision to become reality?
Burlton Sober 5/26/2020 8:21 AMMy vision for a sustainable community is a community that doesn't rely on power or greed but instead relies on helping each other out. The fact that all we do is make stuff that works but destroys our planet needs to change -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWomen and Girls Learn about the Need for Family PlanningWhat did you learn about the need for family planning? How do the needs of different people in different places compare to each other?
Burlton Sober 5/22/2020 7:34 AMThe need for family planning surprised me as it I thought I knew what they were. It varies in different areas as your living space could be different -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Use Research PeatlandsMuch of Indonesia's peatlands have been drained so they could be replaced with palm oil or pulp and paper plantations. How can you make choices that help to protect peatlands, even if you live far away from one?
Burlton Sober 5/20/2020 9:50 AMI can make better choices by choosing to not use products with palm oil or pulp and paper. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Generation Learn More About Geothermal EnergyGeothermal energy is reliable, abundant, and efficient. Project Drawdown states that public investment will play a crucial role in its expansion. In what ways (i.e. with money, time, advocacy) can you invest in geothermal energy?
Burlton Sober 5/18/2020 8:12 AMI can invest in geothermal energy by putting some of my earnings away for the future. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterials Share Bioplastic Disposal TipsWhat concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.
Burlton Sober 5/15/2020 6:29 AMI’m concerned about how we are affecting our planet as we are producing more waste for the places that are already full of waste. We could be spending the money we spend on our military and take some to study for better was to take care of our waste. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Use Learn about Temperate ForestsAs you learn more about the scope and seriousness of the environmental challenges we face, what impact does that have on your thinking and actions? What are the parts that feel overwhelming? What parts help you feel hopeful?
Burlton Sober 5/13/2020 8:29 AMIt impacts my thinking on how bad the world is getting and worse for us as we destroy it. The fact people are taking the forests down for wood and farming. The fact we have organizations that work towards helping these forests. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterials Properly Dispose of RefrigerantsHow do you address your own feelings of concern, fear or despair about climate change?
Burlton Sober 5/11/2020 8:17 AMHow I address my concern for climate change is by trying my best to dispose of products the correct way and using less non-renewable energy sources. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Keep Track of Wasted FoodAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money?
Burlton Sober 5/11/2020 6:50 AMI would rather spend the money families spend on food to go towards education or long term investments -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Use Forest-Friendly Foods 1How is your diet currently impacting deforestation? What can you do to decrease your negative impact and increase your positive impact?
Burlton Sober 5/08/2020 6:21 AMMy diet personally does impact deforestation as most of my Dad’s meals consist of meat sometimes but always have some sort of green with it. I can decrease the amount of meat my family consumes. We can then start to take on a more plant-based diet. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransport Use Muscle PowerHow do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience or enjoyment differ while walking, riding transit, biking or driving?
Burlton Sober 5/07/2020 6:32 AMThey affect my community because I'm one less person using a car and I'm getting exercise. I love biking as in my neighborhood there are around 15 kids my age on my street.
