Land Sinks Learn about Temperate Forests
As you learn more about the scope and seriousness of the environmental challenges we face, what impact does that have on your thinking and actions? What are the parts that feel overwhelming? What parts help you feel hopeful?

    Ramy Temraz's avatar
    Ramy Temraz 3/30/2021 1:05 PM
Reading and learning the impacts have massive impact. Especially watching documentaries and visualizing some of the climate change impacts on the environment and ecological systems. It makes you more aware of the role everything plays from simple transportation norms to habits at home. The most overwhelming part is the slowness of cascading that learning to developing countries due to lack of resources. That being said, Project Drawdown gives me huge hope that we can overcome these issues by giving concrete steps and plans.

What are some more "R's" you could add to your daily practice to reduce your waste?

Reinforce: commitment to carbon emissions and healthy living habits
Race: to the end of Ecochallenge!

    Ramy Temraz 3/29/2021 6:32 PM
1 mile away (it's a farmer's market). The city where I live in already bans CFC refrigerants and is demanding a phase out on HCFCs.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Health and Education Learn about the Need for Family Planning
What did you learn about the need for family planning? How do the needs of different people in different places compare to each other?

    Ramy Temraz's avatar
    Ramy Temraz 3/29/2021 6:30 PM
Family planning is associated with many benefits including:
    • Economic benefits: every additional dollar that is invested in contraception, the cost of pregnancy-related care will be reduced by about three dollars
    • Health benefits: less deaths related to birth/pregnancy related complications and abortions
The need and method of family planning differs from one region to the other based on values, norms, financial needs, literacy, access to contraception methods, and reason for protection (STDs, contraception, etc.)
