Upon calculating my carbon footprint, I was surprised to see that I produce less CO2 emissions than the US average. That made me feel a bit better about not being very cautious of my waste production, electricity use, etc. Still, though, I definitely am going to continue to be more aware about how my actions affect my footprint.

After you determined your carbon footprint, did you see what different choices you can make in order to reduce it?

Yes, I saw lots of different choices. The website I used gave me many alternatives on how to reduce my CO2 emissions beginning from my home. Some of them included turning up the thermostat in the summer and down in the winter, driving less to use less gas, recycling all recyclables, cutting down on the use of electric and gas, and a few more. All of these are definitely doable, it is just harder to make it more efficient while living with 3 other people because there's no way of knowing if they are keeping themselves accountable. That being said, I will definitely try on my own to be more aware of my footprint.

Action Track: Healing & Renewal Eat Mindfully
Mindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How does your eating experience differ when practicing mindfulness?

Overall, I found that practicing mindfulness while eating had a huge impact on my eating experience. It not only made me very aware of my bad habits of always being on my phone while eating or watching tv, but it changed the way I ate as well. It's so easy to just continue eating while being distracted by technology and not even realize when I'm full. Eating mindfully helped me begin to put an end to these bad habits of mine while eating. I realized that I ate more slowly and felt fuller faster while eating mindfully. I also noticed after a few more days of doing the challenge that I paid a lot more attention to what I was putting into my body. Learning in class about the emissions of different types of meat and food really impacted how I chose what I ate each day. Overall, practicing mindfulness while eating has been extremely beneficial, and I definitely continue to do it more often now as normal.

I just finished eating dinner, and today I ate lunch and dinner with my friends. I ate breakfast in my dorm on my own this morning and was on my phone almost the whole time, a habit that surprisingly is still very prominent during this challenge (haha). I ate lunch outside on the lawn and it was a really beautiful day out so it was great to eat lunch outside, out of touch from any distractions besides the people in front of me. Same goes for dinner, I really focused on my food and talking with my friends. I have been feeling fuller faster! Today was a great day :)

Today I ate breakfast in my dorm, lunch in the library, and dinner in the dining hall. I ate mindfully for all of my meals! I did not even check my phone to see the time, which is a habit of mine, so I was 100% not distracted by technology and was focusing on what I was eating. I also was conversing with my friends and paying full attention to everything.

Today I ate my lunch and dinner with no distractions, I sat outside and just focused on eating mindfully. I actually found that today and the past days that I have eaten mindfully that I eat less and more slowly. I expected this to be the outcome, but I am actually allowing myself to feel full and then stop eating once I am full.
