After reading about alternative transportation solutions, I learned just how effective switching from road to rail would be.

The eco challenge is going well for me, and now that I’ve started to pay attention to my portioning I’m realizing just how much I used to serve myself before when there was really no need. I would always have leftovers or scraps I wouldn’t eat, but now I’m getting better at serving myself exactly as much as I’ll eat and being satisfied with that. And it wastes a lot less scraps, or leaves me leftovers for the next day.

Didn’t have much time to eat today, but I did finally settle down to have a mindful dinner. After not having it all day I was ready to settle in for it as a reward.

I have spent a lot of time in forests around campus and Monterey in general, partly for location scouting for something I’m filming, partially because the live oak trees here are enchanting. I learned the only two live oak forests are here in Monterey and Chilé, we live somewhere with very unique and magical trees.

Before this video, I didn’t know much about methane digesters, but now they seem like a must have and much needed counter to things like food and animal waste. Methane is a ghg, and seeing that these digesters can help to convert methane into fertilizer and energy proved to me how efficient they are. I even saw some videos of how to build your own methane digester tank.

I’ve been using smaller bowls and plates for smaller meals throughout the day and I find that a lot of the time one smaller portion is enough when a larger plate just makes me think I want more.

Eating mindfully has been a challenge, mostly because my brain gets very distracted by anything and I worry if I’m not doing something I’m wasting time, but it’s been getting easier to not use my phone in other areas of life as well.
