What did you learn about the need for family planning? How do the needs of different people in different places compare to each other?

After doing some research on family planning there is definitely a need for it. A few things I learned were that people need to understand that there is a relationship between fertility for women and age. Planning this out is crucial because as women age, the fertility ability decreases more than one thinks. I also read that about 45% of annual pregnancies are unintended, which is out of 6.1 million people. It's important to have these planning services because stats prove that almost half were mistaken pregnancies. A lot of evidence has shown that so many of these pregnancies are at age ranges from 15-19, and that being said 22% of teen mothers are way less likely to graduate or acquire their GED, on average are making $3,500 less on their salary, and also get twice the amount of federal aid for way longer. All said and done, unplanned family pregnancies definitely have some backlashes.

Changing lightbulbs is an excellent first step toward energy efficiency! What's next for you?

Besides changing light bulbs to be more energy-efficient, there are tons of other ways and steps I can take to continue to be efficient in daily energy use. Besides changing these bulbs, I also tend to try and keep as many lights off as possible and open the blinds. Daily sunlight is good for one’s health and I love to try and get as much natural light in my home if it's beautiful out. Not only that, something I actually tend to do at home is air dry my clothing outdoors. Back home my mother likes to hang our washed clothing on a line outside to naturally dry and it definitely helps to be more efficient, so I do the same. I also tend to set the water heater and thermostat at a comfortable temperature so that we aren’t using up too much, instead, I like to dress according to the weather and heat.

How can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place -- your deep knowledge of and appreciation for your surroundings?

Besides eating mindfully today, I actually went for a nice walk on the rail trail since it is so close to my house! Spending more time outdoors can enhance one's sense and appreciation of the world around us because it can connect us more with nature. When it's nice out, it tends to put me in a better mood, which also helps me really comprehend the beauty around me. It keeps me wondering and curious about what's happening right outside our doors, which is interesting to see. Overall, just spending time outside when it's sunny and beautiful is just better for oneself mental and physical conditions.

Mindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How does your eating experience differ when practicing mindfulness?

Whenever I eat, I try to eat peacefully without any sort of distractions. This morning I went out on my porch and had a nice breakfast and also today my friends and I had a BBQ because of the beautiful weather. These experiences differ when I'm practicing mindfulness because when I'm being mindful, I tend to always be aware of my surroundings and what's going on in the moment. When I'm eating mindfully, it's almost like I'm in my own world and I'm just focused on the food because who wouldn't, it's so good!!
