What's the most surprising thing you learned about during this ecochallenge? For me, it was learning about how peatlands can affect climate change. They have a large amount of stored carbon, and if they're not protected, they can release greenhouse gases that speed up climate change, and they can increase the risk of wildfire if they lose their natural water flows. I always think of peatlands in the UK (like the Scottish Highlands), but they're found all around the world, even in tropical rainforests!

Have you heard about the Break Free From Plastic Pollution Act that was just introduced in the House and Senate? ECOS supports the legislation, and I hope you will too! Tell you senator and Congressional representative that you want them to support it.

Now that the weather is getting nicer (here in CA), I'm making more meals that don't require cooking, like spring rolls. Saves energy and tastes so refreshing.

When I was out biking in town this weekend, I realized how little my community has done to make cycling easier and safer. Especially here in southern California, biking to work seems so difficult and unsafe. I wish we would prioritize cycling as a transportation option as much as they do in Europe and commit the funds to improve infrastructure and promote cycling. There are too many people who think that bikes don't belong on the road.

one amazing thing about biking is that it can make people smile. While biking in L.A., is tough, there are  small pockets in the city where biking can feel a bit safer and enjoyable.

Yes! As someone who uses a bike as their main method of transportation I have noticed how difficult it is to get around in Los Angeles/SoCal. Often times I have biked on sidewalks because there is no room to safely bike in the road.
